Tips on Motion Sickness Prevention Part II

Don't eat anything high in sugar before riding.

Meclazine. You have to ask the pharmacist for this because they do not keep it out on the shelves. It is kept behind the counter even though it is not a prescription drug. (I don't know why they do this.)

A pharmacist recommended this after nothing else worked. I can't even ride in the back seat of a car without getting motion sickness, but with Meclazine I can ride Alpengeist over and over.

Get the chewable pills. Take one an hour before riding, and if you have to you can chew one later for instant relief. My problem comes from my inner ears, but it is always a good idea not to ride after eating! I don't think even Meclazine could help that problem.

Well everyone's body responds different to different medicines. What works for one person, may not work for you. If you have tried Dramamine (which actually works well for my fiancee) and Bonine, then you may want to try the accupressure or meclazine. You should consult your doctor to see if there may be something else, maybe a prescription drug that you can take.

Unfortunately, there are people who, despite the miracles of science, just can't handle "extreme" motions and therefore can't ride coasters without getting sick. I hope that you aren't one of them.

Happy Coastering!

I remember when I went on my cruise I went to the doctor before hand and asked for something to use just in case and he prescribed for me these little patches that you stick to your skin behind your ear. It turned out that I did indeed get very seasick during the cruise and I popped on of these "wonder" patches on and I felt absolutely fine for the rest of the voyage. Not sure if it would work for riding coasters because I dont get sick riding coasters and I am not sure of the name of it but I do know I needed a prescription which means it was some potent stuff.

My father got real sick on a coaster and discovered soon after that he had acid-reflux syndrome. The acid from his digestive tract was making him sick...from going through loops on a coaster. Sorry to say, if certain rides are making you that sick, just don't ride them. Granted they are fun, but your health is more important. I don't ride spinning rides for that reason...it's not worth it.
I've tried the wrist bands and they didn't help at all :( I will have to check out Meclazine. Does it make you sleepy like Dramamine? Right now I rely on less-drowsy formula Dramamine and dried ginger for my motion sickness and it seems to work pretty good, as long as I stay away from the spin 'n pukes!
