Time Twister, good news!

at least I think so. There is a double decker Carosel, House of Mirrors, other house type rides, and new elements, as can be seen on the atari site(look at the pix of the rapids ride) maybe this will be more than just rethemed rides and more scenery. Thats in there too, but I think we may get at least a couple of suprises:).

Wouldn't a double decker carousel, just be a reskinned carousel? House of mirrors sounds like a reskinned crooked house.

WW had plenty of reskinned rides and people hated it.

I didn't mind WW too much. The additonal theme options are nice and I didn't have the same unrealistic expectations that most had going in. The scenarios were weak.

I'd expect TT to be more of the same - tons of new scenery, some reskinned versions of existing rides and a bunch of weak scenarios with one or two bearable ones tossed in.

I'll probably pick up a copy. Why not?

That's great, but we can't even select HALF the scenery as it is. Are they going to let us choose more scenery objects when we design scenerios?

Well, being as RCT2 isn't being recoded and all the standard arguements about the game's limitations seem to actually be coding limitations - I'd say no.

Reskinned or not, double deck carousels and mirror houses make much more sense than stage coach, ostrich,or koala bear coasters. it also makes more sense than faberge'eggs or butterfly car rides. Common people add to the list I've started.

Also there seems to be some nonsese rides in time twisters too. I've seen some reskinned rides that look like new versions of the space rings. One was a mace from medieval times the other was called a time machine.

I also saw a re themed steeplechase with jousting

All I can say is that I hope RCT3 allows for more theming options when creating a scenerio. All i know is after you've selected one or two groups of WW Theming you can't really select any more so it leaves making a "Theme" park nearly impossible. Lucky enough someone purchased WW for my birthday otherwise I can honestly say I never use any of it's elements other than the occasional theming objects. But to reiterate on what Gonch said the scenerios are weak. I mean look at Coaster heaven it's a small park that doesn't allow for many larger rides and all in all I believe Time Twister will be just another scenery add-on. Oh well I'm sure I'll end up buying it anyways.

What IF the whole world farted at once?!

The only problem that I had with the scenarios is the research. You seem to finish researching in the second year. If it is a four year scenario, then you are left trying to figure out how many diamond rides you can put into the same lame park.

I rather liked the concept of the coaster heaven park. Some would call (myself included) forcing 10 large coasters into a small park a challenge. That park however has plenty of room for at least 15 as most of the ten that built in mine only interact with one other coaster.

It can't be any worse than Wacky Worlds was. God, what a terrible excuse for a game...

The scenery limits aren't as bad if you do the "advanced" scenery choice and pick only the items you want, like with the ride selection. This is tedious (even more so with a bunch of custom scenery thrown in), but helps a lot in getting a variety of theme choices.

And yes, I think most of the reskinned rides will be ridiculous. ANOTHER version of a suspended coaster? I'll just put that by my sloth, gorilla, and football versions.......in the trash can. :P Why so many versions of one of the worst rides?

I am expecting absolutely nothing from the TT scenarios as well. I have more hope for the UCES ones, because I agree with their statement that the scenario editor is vastly underused to make quality scenarios that people can share online. Perhaps actual players of the game will have a better idea of what we want than Atari.

99% of user created scenarios I've found pretty much suck. Without sounding too kiss-a$$, I think Jeff's scenarios come the closest to the feel of Chris Sawyer's. The original RCT scenarios are still my favorites. RCT2's aren't horrible, but I like the feel of the original's better.

Everybody keeps going on about this UCES thing. I don't see the appeal. Some more reskinned rides, some custom scenery and some scenarios. There's no way you can be excited about this and bash WW and TT - they're basically the same thing. It pretty much comes down to how much you hate Atari (and admittedly they seem to miss the point at times).

Still, I have WW, I'll probably get around to nabbing TT and the odds of me DL'ing this UCES thing are very slim.

Call me a purist ;)

Yeah, that's why I said "I have more hope for UCES scenarios." That the TT ones will suck is a given. But maybe there's a good one or two in the 15 in the UCES.

And I agree that UCES is mainly the same thing as TT, but it costs about $30 (or $20?) less. ;)

I guess it's just the idea of UCES that I like the most - gamers coming together to offer some "homemade" RCT2 fun, whereas the official expansion packs have the whole "corporate money-making" feeling to them.

Call me an idealist ;);)

Oh and Gonch, we're missing you over in the games section. I hope it won't be too much longer before you can get settled enough to give out some advice, as the comments are running a bit lean these days.

Well, you obviously haven't played Twin Lakes Oasis, Wet Willie's Waterworld, or Howling Valley, which was recently applauded by over one member. ;) I'll admit Two Tribes didn't come out as I had dreamt it up.

I agree... I recently finished playing the Alpine Adventures "expert scenario." I finished it in March, Year 2 without trying too damn hard. Or maybe I'm just an expert. :)

Freakin' purist.

Four Phantom Fright Nights left... (and I don't work next week.)

I actually have a finished version of Howling Valley on my hard drive. Maybe I'll make a screenshot and upload it tonight.

Not working next week? Damn! As I type this, my wife is telling me next weekend looks good. We have a friend coming in from Atlanta and were going to do a threesome (hehe, you know what I mean, perverts!) We'll probably go on the 24th barring any stupid complication. This weekend we're moving the last of the stuff from Allentown (finally get the pinball machine back!). I honestly thought it ran through Halloween (to Nov 1). This weekend is a definite no.

Insert multiple explicitives.

It really does look like I'm trying to avoid you now, doesn't it :)

Hmmm... actually, my wife and I were considering going to ride on Friday the 24th. (Looks like I called your bluff :) ) It depends on if a couple of friends of mine are going or not, and on the weather.

Sadly enough, I haven't been out just to ride in a couple years. I generally get my rides in whenever I feel like it, but that spoils me... "10 minute line? This sucks!"

Pinball, eh? Well... if you need a place to store that... I'm about 15 minutes from the park.

Consider a trade for free passes?

Couldn't agree with you more there. The original RCT scenarios were much more fun and exciting. I was rather unimpressed with RCT2 scenarios because they just seemed like they were thrown together at the last minute.

As for TT, I will NOT waste $30 or even $20 on just a bunch of ridiculous and crappy scenery.

What ever happened to the good expansion packs like Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes?

That'd be cool. For us it comes down now to whether Grandma will keep the kids for the evening. We'll show up regardless of the weather. I'd like to have some PFN pics to add to the site.

You'll have to wait until tomorrow for the Howling Valley file though. It's on the laptop and my wife left it at work. :(

On subject, I downloaded the UCES thing and wasn't too impressed. See the other thread about it for more detail.

Has RCT2 TT been released yet?

If I'm not mistaken the game should be available as of today(10/21/03) & if it is available has anyone bought a copy yet?I guess the reason for no reviews as of now is because everyone's so wrapped up in the UCES & has lost intrest in the "official" add on before it was even released.

Ha! Wait, that *was* a joke, right?

I don't know when TT is due out. One of these days I'll see it on the shelf and grab it - it's not priority.

According to Amazon.com, the release of RCT TT was due to be released today, 21 Oct 03, however a search of the Baltimore area today turned up no copies.
I just went toWal-Mart to see if they had it, but alas, the spot with the price tag was empty(its under $20). I'll try and pick a copy up tomorrow somewhere and let you guys know.
