Timbers Fest Trip Planning Help

CPLady's avatar

I checked the MI Adventure site this afternoon and the Timbers Fest information is no longer there. I sent in my reservation a month or more ago, but could use a copy of the itinerary (if there is one).

Also, I did some searching for hotels. Unfortunately, many of the hotels with web sites seem to be in the $100 plus range. Can anyone from the Muskegon area give me any recommendations for a decent place to stay?

The page is still there. They have just removed the link from the main page.

You can also access it from the ACE website on the events page.

I tried the ace link, and the one you posted (and yes, I copied and pasted the link as well). I keep getting "Page not found"

All I know is its $25 pre reg., and $30 on site. I think the Sat. ERT is from 8-10. As for hotels, I cannot say since I'm staying in the direction of IB. Where's Kara when we need her? Oh wait, she's busy getting her 500th lap today!

We usually have better luck finding hotels in the Grand Rapids area, which is south of Muskegon. Have you tried www.travelocity.com or www.expedia.com? I usually use one of those sites to find a decent hotel. Good luck!
Lunch is from 3-4. ERT 8-10.

Thanks all! I pre-registered a while ago, and I have a CP season pass. Knowing what time lunch and ERT is helps a lot. I'll check the travelocity and expedia sites for hotels. I really didn't want to spend $100 or more for a hotel after the two nights we used for Coasterbuzz Con this past weekend, but I'm also not sure I want to drive 3 hours home after the ERT since I'll be driving alone.

Well I'm not Kara, but I have been known to have the info when needed. :) There are 3 hotels on Seaway Drive(BR-31) on the south side of Muskegon. Days Inn, Super 8 and I believe a Clarion are all right there. They are roughly 1.5 miles off of US-31. Just a little further south in my neck of the woods in Grand Haven there is a Days Inn, Best Western and a little roadside motel that should all have rooms for the weekend. In Spring Lake which is just north of Grand Haven there is a Holiday Inn. If you need more info(all of these motels should be locateable at their respective corporate websites) feel free to ask.

You could find a cheaper Hotel further away from MIA, just depends how far your willing to drive, Grand Rapids might have some higher priced hotels considering it's size, but after Grand Rapids it's farm land for miles on end till you get near Lansing.

Searches from the MIA lodging page turned up a Super 8 on Colby Road in Whitehall, and a Days Inn on Hoyt St in Muskegon. Both are aroun $80. Both look like possibilities.

I'm still struggling with the fact that Sunday is father's day, and I'm feeling guilty about leaving the hubby home alone, especially since the reason he's not going is because our son is going to a LAN party all weekend (someone needs to be around incase of emergency). Gordon says it's no problem, but he's been SO understanding and cooperative (especially at CBCon). I'M TORN!

If my wife was going to TimbersFest on Father's Day and I couldn't go I'd say "Have a great time for both of us!". Go and have a good time and try not to feel guilty. Besides, maybe you can make it up to him later.

Oh, and the wife and I stayed in the Best Western in Grand Haven that MI Trooper1 mentioned. It was nice and very inexpensive. And, if I remember correctly, it's only about 15-20 minutes from MA.

CPLady, we talked, but if I were you I'd stick to Whitehall if you're not looking to spend a fortune, yet staying close to the park. Let me know if you need directions help!

Wait...how come everyone is saying ERT is from 8-10? On my official TFest form that the park gave me (;)) it says 8-10:30. But you all can keep thinking its unitl 10, that's perfectly fine with me :). Wow, I am not so sure I'm ready for this after a weekend of madness!

Also... there's a sweet new pizza place about 12 miles from MIA. They have killer pizza and, for the legal age, plenty of alcohol (I may know enthusiasts a little too well ;)). I don't know if this is something some of you are interested in doing Saturday night...thought I'd just put this out there and see if anyone is interested. Let me know:)

If I make it, I'm definitely going to stay at the Super 8 in Whitehall. I pulled some maps from mapquest and it looks to be the easiest to get to as well. And if I come, I'm definitely up for pizza and beer! Still have some other details to work out before I can say I'll be there for sure.

You mean they don't roll up the sidewalks at 10 around there??

You know...I'm looking at my form as well, and it says 8-10:30....errr...10, yeah, 10 is when it ends. ;) No for real, what pizza joint you have in mind? Sounds good so far...my wife and I are a go.

Just called the Best Western in Grand Haven and they have $72 dollar rooms right now. Something to keep in mind for the future....they have hottub rooms for $110. You could repay your hubby in the near future with a trip to MIA with a hottub at the end of the day. :) The Days Inn on Hoyt is $85, the Super 8 on Hoyt is $70, and the Super 8 in Whitehall is $79. Hope this helps ya out.

Wow, MI Trooper pulls through with the room rates! Nice work .

OK, so I had in mind Fricanos...you know, the famous place in Grand Haven that moved here like two weeks ago. It's not too far away, and the lake-view kicks butt.

Just to let you all know, I'm "training" the crew well, we all got one-clicks yesterday. Hopefully Ben and Tony will be doing bar-checking. They said something like they can't work the whole day, but they will probably make it for some . Not to mention we have the best op around. We want to give the Timbers-hospitality, ya know. Should be some great rides!

[edit]: the onride photo is working just in time too! Man, we had some fun with that yesterday. I shall show you all the secrets on Saturday ;).

I am SO excited for my first TFest, not to mention seeing everyone again. The pizza thing sounds fantastic, though I am not sure what the rest of my group will do. We're staying somewhere between MIA and South Bend (Go Irish!).

Where is the on-ride photo located? first drop, hopefully it not before the lift like SOB, is that not the dumbest place to have an On-ride photo, might as well snap a few pictures before the train leaves the station or better yet the break run!

The lake view at 11 at night should be breathtaking..... ;) Sorry Kara...couldn't resist. :)
