Timberland Twister & Spinning Dragons

Maybe there's a reason for the lack of landscaping. Notice how the fountain area on WOF's contains a flat ride at MOA, maybe a new flat is on the way next year for that very spot.
Volcano, the pictures are up now of the other landscaping that they did around SD.

Jomo, the next ride won't be there - it will be behind SD.

They don't need to build flats under the coasters at WoF. They have all the room in the world.

Down is the new up.
That is one nice thing about WOF, we don't have a land issue like most of the other parks in the chain.

I still kinda like the "packed in feeling" when rides intermingle and get stacked in/around each other....I think it adds to the flavor and character, as well as potentially adding some COOL head/foot-chopping action...(e.g., Morey's, IB)...
Yeah, but why do it when you don't have to?

So you can save up space for the new RoS clone coming next year? ;)
RoS = Ride of Steel?

Sorry, yes...Ride of Steel....

What can I say, for MY money, Intamin makes the best hypers....YMMV.

I know (not from any inside info, mind you), that WoF is NOT getting a(nother) hyper...just for those of you who have trouble differentiating humor from reality...

What WoF *could* put in would be one of those super-cool Sally-brand dark rides...but again, those don't take too much room either...;)

Worlds of Fun proved "build it and they will come" the year Mamba opened. I was working at the park that year and the crowds were insane!! If they're building a "cap" ride next year I hope they have plans to create more parking.

I don't see Spinning Dragons bringing in that large of a crowd, but I'm glad to see the park back in crowd magnet mode. Finally, they get a coaster I can talk my mother into riding. Families will be much happier having a perfect ride to get their young coaster enthusiats started. Exactly what the Zinger used to be...that was my first :)

I think WOF should bring back the Orient Express B&M floorless style!! Same layout with a large first drop, dive loop into a large verticle loop, a turn-around with a zero-g roll through the verticle loop. Then finish the ride with my favorite element, the batwing/boomerang, and an insane helix back into the station. I think it would work and Central US needs a floorless ;)

Actually that idea has been thrown around several times. I would say it will a matter of time before we see a Snoopy themed ride like that were you after the spooks in the Great Pumpkin patch or something to that effect.

I got the "humor," just making sure we were on the same page as usually it is S:RoS ;)

Okay, now I have had a chance to ride both. I like TT better, however on one trip on SD during the rain I got major airtime on the bunny hill that I have not had on TT. I was also getting major airtime on Timber Wolf during the rain too. (I think riding coasters in the rain is way way underrated.) Aside from that, TT seems to be a bit more wild for whatever reason and the cars squeel thru SD's layout very loudly. If you want to spin, more weight in the car or an unbalanced car works in both parks.

PS I was getting air on every hill on Mamba too. It was a good day to be at WoF. ;)

When did you ride TT? SD is still pretty new, so I'm wondering if the "spinning action" of the cars just hasn't had enough time to "break-in" yet. That is what I am hoping for as, like you, felt that Missy and I spun a lot more on TT. Don't get me wrong, I love having this thing at WOF now, just I think TT is a little more "wild" - maybe it's the Ripsaw "head chopper"?

;)

I live in the twin cities so I have been on TT several times including once before it was scheduled to open. I did feel that I saw cars spinning faster a bit more often on TT, but there were some spinning fast on SD too. I know that you need to unballance the car and put more weight in it...I think you need to put more weight going backwards up the lift, but I am still studying that. It seems like you start spinning more thru the hairpins if you have more weight going backwards, but sometimes that is not the case. I should be at Camp Snoopy a few more times this week to check it out some more.

I thought that TT was more wild thru the helicies. Maybe it is just imagined, but it felt a bit faster and the transition from one to the next did not feel as smooth at WoF.

Isn't it interesting how "clones" can ride so different? I think the enclosed atmosphere of TT has a lot to do with the "ride" itself and then whole thing about it being "THE RIDE" at Camp Snoopy whereas at WOF it is considered the "FAMILY COASTER." I know that you were thinking about how you could have been riding Wolf or Mamba the entire time you were on SD and THAT's why you didn't like SD as much. On TT, you don't have that luxary.

HA! I found you out. ;)

LOL! That is true. One thing that was funny was that when I am at Camp Snoopy, there are people screaming their heads off on like 2 out of 3 cars. When I was standing in line at WoF the people behind me in line commented that no one was screaming at all when they were trying to decide if it was scary or not. I started paying attention, and no one at all was screaming. I agree that the atmosphere and the fact that it is THE RIDE at Camp Snoopy makes a big difference.
Maybe people are embarrased to scream or draw attention to themselves on SD. It's out in the open where everyone is watching you. Especially people waiting in line around the fountain.
No, I screamed and I wasn't embarrased. :) Ok, not really, but I wouldn't be embarrased.
THAT must be why they scream so loud on The Underground only in the parts you can't see em.
Hey the Underground is cool - and only locals will ever understand it (the ride is one huge "inside" joke).

I scream on that ride...ok no I don't.
