TimberHawk opens at Wild Waves/Enchanted Village

Posted | Contributed by David Baxter

TimberHawk, built by S&S Power of Logan, Utah at Six Flags-owned Wild Waves & Enchanted Village, has a half-mile of track supported by a half-million board feet of Southern yellow pine, held together by a half-million nails, screws, nuts and washers.

Did S&S make their own trains for the coaster? Those aren't like any trains I've seen (from what I can see).

Warning: I do not think like the average person. My remarks have plenty of thought behind them. Take it for what it's worth, if you disagree, please, feel free to express it, but don't put me down because of it.

If you're referring to the train in the pic from the article, I think that those are normal PTCs with headrests. Some PTC headrests are the open kind with very hard foam, and others are "closed" with the seat upolstery extending to the top. Hershey has the "closed" PTC headrests on their Wildcat trains, and I think that BGT has the same ones on Gwazi.

They are 3 bench PTCs plain and simple. The video was on KOMO 4 news last night, and the responses were pretty cool.

Rob-looking forward to riding next Monday, while school is in class.:)

3 bench? they must be 2 bench becuase the 3 bench PTCs won't track on a twister.

Sure they will. Viper at SFGAm uses 3-bench PTC's and they track just fine!

4-bench trains seems to do fine on Coney Cyclone...don't see why 3-bench wouldn't do just fine on Timberhawk.

I rode it Tuesday and can confirm that they are 3-bench PTC's. I'm going back tomorrow to take some better photos. The ones I took the other day were awful.

So, for those of you who have actually ridden this, can you tell whether or not it meets up to the engineering we have seen at CCI or does it run in its own unique way? Just curious on how S&S handled this baby.....

Will clue you all in Monday. I have read some accounts of it, and seen a little POV on the local news. It looks pretty sweet, whatwith the headchoppers everywhere. I have heard that it runs a little rough in the front seat, but offers a better ride there regarding airtime. The back, I have been told, is much smoother.

I'll have the opportunity to ride it tomorrow and I'll post my thoughts here.

Now that I have ridden it, you will have to read my TR. :) I will be going back Monday. I have to try it again. I have to see if I am losing my mind.
