Timber Wolf?

The "Roller Coaster Rollback" today states...

11/10/1978 - Worlds of Fun (Kansas City, Missouri) unveils plans for the Timber Wolf wooden coaster.

If the ride opened in 1989, it took them about 10 years to build this ride? Is there something I am missing here? Is there a story about this ride I don't know? 10 years seems like an aweful long time between releasing plans and have the ride ready to ride. To me, it would seem like if the plans were unveiled, the ride would be ready to build. Anybody have any more info on this?

My guess would be it is a typo and should be 11/10/1988.

"Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time." Personally, I'll settle for a ride on a decent coaster.

Yeah, when I looked at that this morning I was like "whoa, ten years to build a ride?" Talk about anticipation. I too was gonna make a post about it until I came back to reality and realized it was a simple typo. It shouldn't say 1979, but rather 1988 or '89.

Definitely not 1989 since it opened in the spring of `89. Timber Wolf is what made me an enthusiast back in 1989

Interesting to note that the two Summers/Dinn wooden coasters that opened in 1989 were originally built for independently-owned parks but now fall under the CF umbrella.

Well, both of them did get trims on their first drops!

Trims on the first drop....ugh!!!. I heard Tonerre de Zues (which receives much glory, laud and honor) was modeled from this ride. I wonder if Ghostrider (which is king intensity) will suffer the same fate?

Lyrically, I'm supposed to represent
I'm not only a client, I'm the playa president!

I would give up on a coaster if it took 10 years to build.
