Tilt Coaster Questions

djhush, What's wrong buddy? Who are you really mad at here? Poor thing. I sure hope you feel better so you can stop takeing your anger out on coasterbuzzers. Why project so much hatered? In the long run, you wont feel any better about yourself. Please, friend, try posting comments that add to the conversation instead of asking people to be mad at you. Cheers.

And for the REAL topic...I want one of these things here in the U.S. Didn't I here that one was eventually to be built at SF in Washington State? Vekoma or not, it looks like a lot of fun.

56 seconds isn't a short ride, especially if you don't count the time going up a lift. Batman inverts are I believe about 30 seconds up the lift and about 30 seconds through the ride.

Cheers

dexter, you're confusing two different coasters....the new coaster at the newly SF aquired WW/EV is gonna be the GCI coaster....I think there was a rumopr/proposal for one in the US on the Jersey shore, and we will see one sometime soon...but none confirmed, yet...;)
What if the brakes fail...........

coasteraddict, IIRC from the article, there were SEVERAL back-up systems involved...If by some MIRACLE all of them, every one, failed, well then *Gravity* really reaches the *Max* and your worries are soon over....

If a brake fin breaks from all the pressure or something......

Oh, JK

Coaster Counter: 80+...I need to sit down and figure it out :)

The train is not feld by brakes directly. The train is held by a big clamp which can only open when a big steel pin goes into the clamp's locking system, and the only way to get the pin into the clamp is by tilting it, because the pin is placed on the tilt tower.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the tilt track to make the transition from horizontal to vertical?

I'm not sure but I would guess 5-10 seconds but I might be way off.

Some of you were discussing the safety: I'm sure Vekoma has done everything to make it as safe as possible. BUT, the unthinkable can and does happen in with any human designed mechanical device. :( Just pertaining to coasters, I thought for 20 years (after the first looper) that it would be impossible for a train to get stuck upside down. Then it happened....twice.....

Your right Peabody I can understand how anything could happen wrong with it and the car gets dumped off.

I certainly hope that's not the case. When the unthinkable happens on normal coasters usually bumps and bruises occur. In extreme circumstances their may even be (God forbid) a death or 2. If the unthinkable would ever happen with this.......

My coaster bible (aka rcdb.com) states that Gravity Max is indeed operating. I knew there was such thing as a tilt coaster!!
