Vekoma's tilt mech. simply tilts the train 90 degrees so it is facing the ground.
The Giovinola model tilts 90 degrees vertically and twists 90 degrees, as shown in the model.

I beleive there is a 3-d movie/rendering of the ride on the vekoma website.
