Tick

This is probably another insanely stupid question by me, but. . .

When I play with Stepmania on my desktop, particularly when I play new or hard songs, I like to turn on the "Tick" option to help me get a feel for the beat and note patterns.

Do any DDR machines have the Tick option? I never thought to look until just now and there isn't a machine I can get access to for a few days.

Nope
No, but the home versions do. I used it to get down the complicated rhythms in Sana Morette, Orion 78, Insertion, etc.

I have Konamix, but I can't really play it well because my pad slides all over the place, and really expensive things tend to rattle off shelves.

Nuts about the arcade machines. Thanks, though, for answering.

Get a Cyphergames pad. Use the link at the bottom of the first page of the "DDR bug has hit hard" thread. It slides some but not like a store-bought thin pad.

Or, just play Konamix with the controller. Use the "tick" and learn songs for the arcade. Konamix has most of the "classics" that you'll want to know anyway.
