Thunder & Lightning- Lopsided Rivalry?

^Agreed.

Actually I have no preference over the two, and I have seen Lighting and Thunder win equally.

You gotta love it! I know it's my fave, just SLIGHTLY under Thunderhead.

My father and I decided that they make Lightning always win so they only have to replace two lightbulbs in the station for that side, and leave the Thunder side empty.
I was at the park this past Saturday/Sunday and also noticed that Lightning won almost every time, both days. But while riding both sides i didnt notice a big difference between the two, i guess the fix is in.
see at KW the ride ops can control who wins on the racer. Most people think that it goes every other train but thats not true. That is only true if they both start at the same time and both trains are even going up the lift hill. If that happens then most of the time the train that started on the right will most likely win. Or if the one on the right is in the lead it will win. But usually if i hear people say "Lets get on the blue one cause green just won!" we usually make them lose so their theory is all wrong. There are other factors to see which will win. Red is the fastest then blue then green i believe. So if we see that one is winning a lot, we'll just make it lose a couple times lol I'm just wondering, can the ride ops on Lightning Racer control the outcome? *** Edited 8/12/2005 6:57:14 PM UTC by PGH_Steeler***

Nope.....LR has one control panel that dispatches BOTH sides simultaneously...;)

I've begged and pleaded to have GCII come down ad "fix" Gwazi to run that way, but to no avail....so far.. ;)

I was at the park the other night, and I rode mostly on the the Thunder side, and we didn't lose a duel the whole time that I was there riding. Its all in the weight of the people on each train.

They are dispatched, and reach the top of the lift at the same time. The season LR opened each side would take turns winning. I thought it was rigged to do that.

Now it's just in the weight of the trains.

Gwazi could be a superb ride if it duled all the time, they figured out a better loading procedure, and added Millennium Flyers!

So...get to building them a set of MFlyers...:)

Parks that don't KNOW how to maintain wooden coasters should be REQUIRED to buy those trains. Otherwise, it just makes GCII look bad...;) Wasn't THAT long ago I suggested that GCII *disown* Gwazi like the old CCI did with Cannonball Run...

Gwazi HAS been infinitely better since the Canuckers (M-V) came down to do *repairs*....but repairs occasionally cannot match CONSTANT routine maintenance...ever...

I don't know fantom, I was on Lightning one ride with a lot of single riders. I'd say we had 14-15 riders including a lot of kids vs. 20-22 on Thunder and we still won.
i'm glad that we can control who wins at KW. usually if someone is annoying us we'll make them lose. Thats the best part about working at the racer.
PGH_Steeler, you really don't need to keep pointing that out... it's starting to look like you're disappointed that no one is paying attention to you.
I gotta chime in here and say how much we loved LR. After Thunderhead and the two GCI's at Hershey my buddy now wants to plan all of our coaster trips around getting on more GCI's. And yes, Lightning did win all 3 times we rode it. ;) Now we need to figure out where the nearest one is to HW next year, after experiencing The Voyage.

How long until budget cuts at Cedar Point move the controls on Gemini to where the old front entrance was and we only have one op dispatching trains?
When I was there in June I noticed this.

One train on Thunder was extremely sluggish and would always lose by a whole train length. The other one was as fast as the Lightning train, and would beatit more than 50% of the time.

At one point we alternated rides on lightning-thunder at lost 5 in a row, so yes thunder does win and lightning does lose, but only when I'm on lightning ;).

Both sides seemed to be winning equally when I was at Hersheypark on the 7th. I will have to admit that I like Lightning a lot better than Thunder as I think that Lightning has a bit more intense ride. Also I would have to say that LR is now my favorite woodie as I have never had so much fun on a woodie(s).

Macho nachos...the closest GCII to HW will be at Beech Bend, which just happens to be opening their new woodie next May 6 on the same day as HW opens The Voyage. The BB GCII's twisted layout should be a good contrast to The Voyage's out and back layout. A great one-two punch of coasters if you ask me, and you could definitely do them both in the same day!

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
I was at Hersheypark yesterday and I spent a lot of time at LR. I didn't notice any lopsidedness at all. Both sides seemed to win pretty much equally to me.
