In all honesty, this game looks really fun. I know a LOT of you hated RCT3... but aside from the lag & frame-rate drop when a lot went on, it was a fun game that was a real time-waster. The only level I can't beat is the very last level in the Wild expansion pack. The sand-box mode, however, really is great.
This game looks like an improved version of the original RCT3 (ie: minus the waterpark & zoo aspects) plus the ability to freely play/ride certain attractions you couldn't (mini-golf & go-karts, for example).
The biggest turn-off, however, would be if they didn't offer a sand-box mode, and their choices for coasters & flat rides were less than that of RCT3's (which was immense in and of itself).

since i've never seen a game lag on a console since 8-bit NES i'm pretty sure this is gonna rock. and by the way, RCT3 didn't crash my $800 dell, so i don't know what you could have spent 2 million on... *** Edited 11/5/2006 1:21:20 PM UTC by neilpeart***
I mean honestly, is the size of one's man parts dependent on how much his computer is worth now?
I created an awesome mini-park awhile ago, but now I can't even run the flippin' game because it keeps crashing out on me. I uninstalled it & re-installed it with the two service packs and the Wild patch, and it still crashes out... the game is far from perfect. I love it when it works right, but man... it is really starting to irritate me! I've had a 3.0ghz [intel] for awhile, with a recent video card, and the game chugs after a certain point. I'm upgrading FINALLY to a duel AMD with a 512mb video card, and I'd think at this point in the game, I could run 30,000 peeps without a drop in frame-rate... but i wouldn't hold my breath.
Thrillville won't have the same crashing issues, but man... if the game is as disappointing as it sounds, it's ashame. There's probably less thrill than there is ville, and if I wanted a "ville", I'd buy The Sims 2.
You're not going to find much (any?) love for RCT3 around here.
If they tweaked it to run better, it'd be the least balanced, most unenjoyable excuse for a theme park game ever.
Until then, it's the least balanced, most unejoyable and worst running theme park game ever.
And from the sounds of it, Thrillville is the same crap but watered down even more.
I personally play RCT1 and 2 WAY more than I have ever No Limits. No Limits is truely the ultimate coaster construction program....it blows me away. But, RCT is more "fun" :)
This is FAR from the "worst running" theme park game ever. Sim Coaster, Sim Themepark, the original Themepark are far from better than RCT-3. They weren't horrible games, but they certainly didn't have any realism.
Also of note, Gamespot now has their official review up. They gave it a 7.7, which is fairly good considering the low expectations we had... but remember, this is coming from a hardcore-gamers perspective, not a hardcore-amusement park nut. They even admit that it doesn't focus on micromanagement, but more on the 20+ mini-games.
