Thrill Shot opens at Magic Mountain

Posted | Contributed by Karl DeAngelo

The first of many S&S pay attractions opened on Saturday at Magic Mountian. Currently the cost is $22 per rider. A video of the ride in action is available on the site.

The pull-through on X is progressing. Clearances look to be extremely tight on some sections of the ride, as can be seen in the photos.

Looks awesome.

Massive cool. However it doesn't look as extreme as Ejector Seats/Sling Shots though - they hit 6G's on launching. At least TS is taller & more open aired.
WOW is all I can say!

SFMM went from Amusment Park to Xtreme Park. They skipped Theme park :)
Hope X is open soon. Deja Vu who knows. In rollercoaster database it said the latest rumor is that Deja Vu will open on the 11th of August. I really really really doubt this but who knows i could be wrong.
Looks great... I'm probably getting to test ride the one at CP in the next week...

Thanks for the first working video.. I finally got to see the braking system in action.. hehehe

WOW! Looks like a ride and a half.
Interesting that there was never a press release for this ride, yet CP and Knott's decided to for their rides.

I'd like a tall CCI out and back, and a grande nonfat Latte to go please!
$22 dollars?!?!?!?!?! ARE YOU INSANE?! The regular Sling Shot at SFGAdv is only $20, but that one launches you, and you go up and down a helluva lot! The friggin Thrill Shot only launches you and you go up, and come down...the end. DEFINITELY not worth that amount of money! I'd barely pay $10 to ride it! Sure, it looks cool, but the regular Sling Shot is so much better! Maybe not as tall, but it is free-flipping, and it lasts a lot longer!

KoЯn Rules! I just came out to feed!
It was explained to me that if the price were any cheaper, because of it's location right in the middle of everything, there would be SERIOUS capacity issues. So assuming 20 percent of SFMM visitors feel the way you do, the lines will be alot more managable. Keep in mind that CP's version is in a completely different area of the park, one that doesn't have quite as many visitors.

And when you see this thing in person, you'll quickly change your mind. This thing blows the tar off a regular sling shot.

Coaster 131, two dollars more isn't an extreme amount of extra money. The seats flip on VertiGo/Thrill Shot, don't judge it yet.

I rode Thrill Shot this morning. The price was lowered to $15 for two "shots." I tried the "Absolutely Insane" mode and "High Flyer," both of them awesome, High Flyer being my favorite of the two. Talk about an awesome rush!! You get up there a heck of a lot quicker than it looks. Airtime is amazing! It is a great ride and will be successful additions to compliment all three parks. The restraint system is just plain awesome too. The seat is similar to a small horse saddle with a small back on it to lean on. Other than that, it only has a chest harness with four pins that secure into the pod. Kind of hard to explain. Very open, very free, and suprisingly very comfortable too. I look forward riding again.
