Three-year-old tossed from Houston Rodeo ride

Posted | Contributed by stoogemanmoe

A video taken by a parent capturing his own child's ride on the Techno Jump at the Houston Rodeo inadvertently recorded the girl's fall. Her mother couldn't fit into the seat so she let the girl, who met the minimum height rule ride, with her brother. In one image, she appears to be slumping in the seat. A few seconds later, as the car sweeps by again, she is seen trying to hold on with her body swinging in the air. Moments later, she was flung to the ground.

Read more and see video from KTRK/Houston.

Except that I have also seen an article that indicated that the "older brother" was in fact a "twin brother" meaning we now have two 3-year-olds supervising each other. Not sure where I got tht; I'll try to find a link...

Ok, I have another question about this. Is a three year old child really mature enough to ride a ride like this. I mean she maybe thought the off ride movements of the ride looked really cool and mom just didn't have common sense to pull her child off the ride after she found that she herself could not fit? I would have pulled her off the ride myself.

I found that link, and I was possibly mistaken...

The injured child and her brother are twins, but the new article doesn't say for certain who was riding with her; possibly an older cousin. Interesting that nobody seems to know who was riding where, including the family...

People get all weird when stuff gets legal... it's like they can't tell the truth or talk about it or something ;)

A couple years ago, a drunk lady got off the Indiana Beach sky ride early, and fell. I mean, if I decide to get out of my car while driving, should I sue Toyota?

And if anyone would bother reading the story, the mother was booted off because she didn't fit, and the kid was left with her older brother.

Yes I did read that and I wondered why a mother would leave a 3-year old supervised by another child.

Thats what I don't understand. Why would a mother, in her right mind, leave a little kid, with a little kid on a ride like that one. I watched that video again and am horrfied to see that little kids legs flying up and down upside down. I think that mother needs really needs to re-evaluate what she does in everyday life. Horrifying. Wow.

Because they met the posted rider requirements for safety?

(just playing devil's advocate...kinda)

You're probably right, I just don't get letting a three year old on that ride. A three year old is just not mature enough imho.
