This Years Big Trip

As to Great Escape, The main reason for not doing anything there that night is the park closes at 5:00 pm. It will be up to my wife about Canobie. She has a friend North Granby that she wants to have dinner with. So that is why we were thinking of spending a few bonus hours at SFNE.

Ken, my job does not really allow me to just go. I have made a decision to just do it. I will close my shop for the week and have a great time with my family. It is just a matter of personal priorities. I am not saying that coasters are my priority, just that spending time with my family making memories is. We just happen to all like amusement parks.

No need to explain Dave.. Total envy on my part to be able to prioritize like that. I think more families need to find things like that personally.

Canobie is so worth it if you like traditional parks with loads of charm. I'd rather spend a day there over Great Adventure or SFNE, but it's all about what you enjoy.

We want to do a trip over the Summer, and hit a few parks we haven't been. Still have yet to make it west of Kings Island. Still mad that I didn't take the time to drive to Kentucky ingdom when we were out there.

I live 25 minutes from Hershey along I83 between Harrisburg, and York. There are so many parks in the Midwest we haven't hit. We'd like to plan a trip in that direction. Also haven't been to Darien Lake and the other parks in NY. Would like to hit Waldameer too.

I am so psyched for this trip. We will be leaving tomorrow night. Here is the itinerary we finalized on.

7/3 Kennywood
7/3 Waldameer in the evening
7/4 Canada's Wonderland
7/5 LaRonde
7/6 Great Escape
7/6 Six Flags New England in the evening maybe or just crash
7/7 Six Flags New England
7/8 Lake Compounce
7/8 Coney Island Cyclone, Deno's Wonder Wheel & Luna Park
7/9 Six Flags Great Adventure
7/10 Morey's Pier (Coastin' by the Ocean)
7/11 Morey's Pier (Coastin' by the Ocean)
7/11 Dorney Park
7/12 Knoebels
7/12 DelGrosso's

I still would love to add a few other things to this trip, but they are going to have to wait till another trip. As it turns out, we all are most excited about Morey's Pier.

I am also planning on buying a case of 5 hour energy drink to help with the 2500 miles of driving.

If you see me at the park say hey. I always love to meet fellow enthusiast.

You mentioned Kennywood day/Waldameer night because of Waldameer's night admission starting at 6, but KW also has a night rider pass that starts at 5pm if that was why you didn't switch.

Good luck on the 3rd. Big union picnic + good weather + Sky Rocket open = hella busy.

Hi

DaveStroem's avatar

Yep, we know it will be busy, but going in expecting it should be fine. To me, KW coasters are just OK and not a big deal if I don't get 20 rides on all of them. We will be there well before opening so I shouldn't be an issue to get SR out of the way first and still get over to PR while the bulk of the crowd is at SR.

Kennywood will also let you purchase a fast pass for individual rides if you're short on time.

Wow, half a day at Kennywood? No night rides on Boulder Dash? a whole day at Dorney? More than a half a day at SFNE? Less than two days at Knoebels? Hope you have fun and have been to some of those places before.

Matt, he's doing Dorney & Morey's on the same day, the 11th. I spent an entire day at Dorney once. NEVER AGAIN!

Dorney is a great stop-over park for about 3-4 hours...the best part is that you can do *pretty much everything* there in that time since all the people are over in Jackson, NJ. If (huge IF there) CF would ever restore T-Hawk to even the greatness it had when I first rode it, I could spend another hour or two easily...

Dorney has never been more than a stop on the way to Knoebel's for me. Boulder Dash is meh during the day and top 5 for me at night. I also love love love PR.

Kennywood from opening till 5-6 is plenty for me even when it is busy.We will be at Lake Compounce till the park closes at 8:00 pm then just a quick stop at Coney Island. As to Knoebels, yea we have been a few times including once this year. DelGrossos will be the quick stop that day. As to SFNE for an evening and a full day only because Great Escape closes at 5:00 PM and we have season passes.

Whoops, my bad. Read some of that long... all those pesky numbers in a column played tricks with my eyeballs. Ok an evening at Dorney after Morey's sounds very reasonable.

Andy, I think Boulder Dash has vastly improved since you lived out here. It's like a whole new ride now compared to my experience in 2001 when it had virtually zero airtime. Now it's the next best thing to Voyage in terms sustained speed, laterals and airtime. And it just gets better and better as the day goes on, but night rides are the bomb!

Put me in the camp of "B-Dash didn't impress at first, but subseuqnet trips have kept the rating on the upswing". Those first laps in....'03 I think - had me wondering where all the love came from (besides the obvious terrain). But the ride just.keeps.getting.better.

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Well, in that case....

Is everyone satisfied now? :)
