This style or feature-overload forum style?

There's only one thing I really want: Local time. Doesn't really affect me that much as I'm only an hour off, but it's still a little annoying to me. I'm sure it's a pain in the ass for people overseas. If this is already implemented and I just haven't noticed it, someone please tell me.

The new version does fashion times to your locale, and unlike other forums, even accounts for daylight savings time.

Missing the Fallen:
King Cobra 1984-2001
The Bat 1981-1983

Good to hear that time's being made a little more user friendly. Needless to say, the times here mean absolutely nothing to me, and unlike other forums, posting time is not a feature I’ve ever used here.

Speaking of which, is there to be a system where dates are user selectable. 10/17/2003 is stupid to me because there's only 12 months in a year. Obviously it's not much of an issue when it's such an obvious case as this current date, but when it's the 5/9 or whatever, it can get irritating. More of an issue when searching rather than posting in the latest topics, but still an issue myself, and most other foreign members are faced with.

I'll back up the idea of having news items appear in a forum.

I know that it's the general rule not to start topics in the forums about news items because it splits the discussion. Perhaps just having a separate "Current Events" or "News" forum in addition to the general buzz forum where only you (or at the most just the moderators) could start topics by posting the news items, but everyone could respond.

The headlines on the front page could stay posted sequentially as per when you uploaded the info, but in the forums, the same info would be available in the normal post-takes-it-to-the-top fashion.

This way if a big news week, or it's an older but relevant news item, it wouldn't get lost.

You know, if you click on "news" you've got your forum.

It's still a great site, Jeff. Excellent work. The only thing more I might like is a feature in your bio-thing saying what topics you recently posted in. I have a bad memory for these things.

-About the bright pink and radioactive green; I used to make all my coasters on RCT that color. Except it was more of a barf green. I get very bored.

The colors aren't going to change, so you can stop asking. What's changing is the underlying code base, not the design. The part that counts, the black on white text is as readable as it gets.

The black text on white backround works. But that yelow to grey fading bar between each is ugly at heck! But it could be worse...like yellow to puke green, or dark green to orange. lol

I prefer something such as Invision Board over this. Just my opinion :)
Nice documentation you have going there with the v7 docs.

Yeah, I was just thinking that when you click on news it could remain the same: chronologically based. Having the same threads in a separate page on the forums index, though, would allow the threads to advance and fall depending on new posts, thus fostering discussions that wouldn't be so prone to die when the topics leave the home page. (Not to mention the notification of new posts...)

This is better, one of the unique features that most sites don't have. I love it. It is the best.
