This Has Been Bothering Me...

What coasters were repainted this year at Cedar Point. Raptor looks like it has been repainted, has it? Has Mantis gotten its repaint?

Raptor definately has, Jeff has some pictures of it before and after I think. But I was there a couple of weeks ago and I really dont think Mantis got repainted.

Raptor got his repaint last year. Mantis alas is in dire need of one.

Gemini got new station paint this year, I think it's what was leftover from MIA's Corkscrew ;)

Mantis was to have been repainted this year, but I believe is now scheduled for repainting for next season.

I really, really, really, really, would like to see Mantis as it once was back in '96. It is really sad to see the paint job like it is now. :(

Ya, me too. It's an ugly site compared to when it first opened. Another coaster that could use a dab of paint would be Magnum.

MagnumForce-I personally think that is Talons left over paint they used on Gemini!! ;)

Rumors are Mantis will be painted for '03 (thank goodness cause it really does look ucky) and Maggie will either be done also or will have to wait til '04.

Could be Jo ;), Talon is the prettiest coaster I have ever saw and Corkscrew is definitely the prettiest arrow I have ever saw. Gemini's station certainly is bright no matter where the paint came from

I recieved an email from Monty Jasper last year conserning the paint jobs of new rides for 2002. He said that Magnum and Mantis were on a "short list" of rides that were going to be painted soon.

I don't understand how the paint job looks so bad after only 6 years of operation.

It would be real nice if, while painting Mantis, they could do some resufarcing......it still gets long lines, but has gone *down* on my list of stand-ups, due to its increasing rougness......(is that a standard part of the painting process?).....

I doubt it Gator. As for paint well its the crapy paint that was around in the early 90's although 96 isn't very ealy 90's.

Ouch, the typos in this thread are contagious! Anyway, it would be so nice to have them reprofile Mantis' brake run so that they convert the one preceding the existing station into an unloading station. It's been sad to see the 3rd train sitting dormant under the transfer table for the past 2 years. What's worse is seeing the crew stack when there are only 2 trains on the track...that's just unacceptable by CP's standards.

No matter what they decide to do though, this off season they will be busy with them constructing, painting, and hopefully reprofiling.
