Theme Parks In Jeopardy!

In my never-ending effort to spot every theme/amusement park/roller coaster/ride reference in the pop culture universe, one fell into my lap yesterday.

Jeopardy! is a ritual for me..never miss it as long as I'm home and not on the phone..and it's not a re-run.

Last night's Teen Tournament semi-final featured a category called Theme Park Fun. Herewith, I'll give you the answers...paraphrased, of course. I'm sure everyone here will come up with the "questions" rather quickly.

$200
Knott's Berry Farm features a children's area themed to this character, Charlie Brown's beagle

$400
A British theme park, based on this novel, features the Knave Of Hearts and the Red Queen

$600
Smoky Mountain River (Rampage? Rapids?) is a raft ride at this Tennessee theme park named for country singer Parton

$800
Appropriately, Holiday World is located in the Indiana town named for this jolly fellow

$1000
Soak City is a waterpark located at this Ohio park...get the Point?

Yes, of course, the clues seem ridiculously easy to us. But hey, these kids might or might not have ever known of these places. I didn't even know the answer to the $400 clue existed..I answered correctly based on the information in the clue.

Have at it!

Thanks for sharing! I saw Holiday World's screen cap but was curious what the other clues were, since they don't put the episodes online. I hadn't heard of the park referenced in $400 either, but apparently it's [ spoiler alert ;) ].

They only wanted the name of the book...

It appears that once again Charmland has been ignored by pop culture. Lighty gets no respect.

The answer to the $1,000 question is Kings Island, because the Soak City in Northern Ohio is NEAR Cedar Point, and not at Cedar Point, whereas the Soak City in Mason Ohio is AT Kings Island. :p

Isn't Soak City ON Cedar Point?

No, Soak City is next to Cedar Point. It is a separate park located on the same peninsula as Cedar Point. That being said, they were obviously looking for Cedar Point as the answer. :-p

Isn't the peninsula's name Cedar Point?

Even if the peninsula is named Cedar Point, the Jeopardy answer states "park", so it wouldn't matter. :p

I searched for a Cedar Point on the coast of Lake Erie, but I don't see any amusement park there, let alone a water park... ???

;)

Also, I don't believe KI's waterpark has officially opened as Soak City yet, so at the time these shows were taped, CP's was the one and only. As I said, I paraphrased, so there may have been something else in the clue to target Cedar Point as the correct response. And Jeopardy! will often put phrases like "get the Point" in a clue to steer contestants in the right direction. That was THEIR phrasing, not mine.

Try, try, try to separate them...it's an illusion.

LOL, I was thinking the thread title "Theme Parks In Jeopardy" was a tad frightening....ON Jeopardy might have been less unsettling and more descriptive... ;)

I debated that, Gator. I think one preposition is better than the other in this case. Maybe I sub-consciously WANTED to unsettle people ;)
