The "X's" on X's Trains

Does anyone know what the large, purple, X shaped structures sticking out of X's trains at Six Flags Magic Mountain are? They can be seen here in this photo: http://www.twistedrails.com/sfmm2k1/jan10-19.shtml At first, I thought they were dividers to keep people from coming into contact with the track/wheel assemblies, but I dont know why they are so large. There are already black dividers ( Which can be seen in the photo ) there, so I dont know why the X's would be needed.

Decoration. Like when they print the name of the coaster or park on the front of a coaster. (of course, you can't do that on X)

Why do they report power outages on TV?

No, they are not decoration. Under the fiberglass shell there is part of the device which allows the seats to rotate. I believe it was detailed on the Discovery Channel shows thie year.

Also when i saw pictures of the prototype train, There was a long tothed bar that ran up from the second set of wheels that turn the seats. I assume someone was smart enough to make it look like an X and it covers this tothed bar that moves up and down to turn the seats. The bar is hidden by the X and the bar probably moves up and down inside the part of the X that stands most straight up.

Make sense?

I meant "Toothed" meaning a bar with teeth on one side that moves up and down turning a round cog attached to the seat assembly.

Doesn't that just seem to simple of an idea.

But a great one?!

If it was made to be an X for X, what happens if they build another 4D (doubtful now)? Will they leave the X there?

Half of the X is for decoration, the other half hides the gear rack.

i am sure they can tailor make the X thing into anything so it will suit another 4D. kind of like wheels covers, can change from ride to ride

Why are we talking about this....we know it's just gonna get torn down in reality, right? ;)

No you're wrong. It's not decoration and YES you can put the ride's name on X, they're on the seats.

If it's built in another Six Flags park I don't think we'd have to worry about a name other than X ;)

...only if the SF *creative* team doesn't forget how to spell X....;)
X IS NOT GETTING TORN DOWN!!!!!!!!! I DONT MEAN TO BE RUDE TO PEOPLE BUT SIX FLAGS IS NOT GOINT O TARE DOWN "X." Its like people just hear one rumor a stick on to it.

If people took the time to really read someones post they would see that PKI Fanatic was being sarcastic with his comment that X is being torn down. People calm down, and pay attention to what people say. And there really is no reason to SCREAM over it.

You tell them carr....because we would never want them to "TARE IT DOWN"....

In my opinion it is for decoration. As opposed to covering the gear rack with a large square they got decorative and put a Large X over it. As for any other 4Ds I'm guessing they could be covered with any design wanted. Kinda of like rims on a car, they all look different but do the same thing.

I love the trains on X. Are they comfortable. And as Peabody said they covered it on the Discovery Channel.

I don't think SF will stick to the "X" name because they want it to be a little different for SFMM. After all, it is now the Xtreme Park!

I've never heard it as a rumor.......I just enjoy watching people get pissed over it when I say it will be. :)
