"The Whole Nine Yards"

The topic title is the name of this movie with Bruce Willis.

I caught bits and pieces of this movie and in one of the scenes, they are near a huge bridge crossing over a bay or something. Just off in the distance is a park with a B&M coaster , a wooden coaster, and an observation tower. Does anyone know what park this is? Its pretty cool with this park bordering right up to this bay and ocean. Here is the website for the movie. Just curious if anyone knows.

I'm not certain, but I'd say your best bet is a Canadian park, since that's where the majority of the film takes place.

I just saw that movie again maybe two weekends ago. I know what scene you are talking about and I always assumed it was Vortex at PGA. Who knows though...I could most certainly be wrong.

Yes, it did say it was based in Montreal. If its a Canadian park, I definitely have no clue.

The only B&M in Canada is Le Vampire @ La Ronde, however, it was not even built until 2002. If it was shot in Montreal and the park was La Ronde, then it's possible you got Cobra, an Intamin stand-up which resembles a B&M confused with an actual B&M. There are also many other possibilities, though.

Sounds like it could have been La Ronde. The "B&M" you saw was most likely the Intamin standup, Cobra seen here http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery189.htm?Picture=5 . The woodie would probably be Le Monstre, seen here http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery186.htm?Picture=1

Your wooden coaster is Monstre, your park is La Ronde, and The Whole Nine Yards was filmed in Montreal, Canada!

Hilarious movie, isn't it? :)

Danny

It is definitely LaRonde. The Movie was filmed Entirely in Montreal.

Gotta say I love Amanda Peet. ;)

Ninjas are cool; and by cool, I mean totaly sweet.
Chitown, why the heck did you put that link there? I thought that was going to be a pic of the scene w/ the rollie coaster.

So people would know what movie he's talking about.

I haven't seen the movie, but i'm familiar with filmmaking techniques. Did anyone consider that it could be a digitally enhanced background? The shot could have been made in a soundstage. Roller coasters from different parks could have even been spliced together digitally to make it more compositionally appealing.

Just a thought - i honestly have no idea, but the clues on this post seem to contradict each other.

No, based on this picture.

This is definitely La Ronde. That bridge is right there that was in the movie. Besides, the movie isnt based on amusement parks, so I dont see them adding in a park just for the heck of it. It was just there in the movie.

Umm based on that picture, if i'm not going crazy, the ride isn't completed (look to the left). And yet a train is about to go down the first hill...

I think the track just goes behind the trees there.
