The traditional drop then loop!?!

Are there any steel looping coaster that start with an elemant other than a loop? The drop then loop is getting kind old now. It would be great for a change like drop the dive loop or drop then drop and Cobra roll. Plus wouldn't that allow designer to make bigger elements. Oh .....ish, i just remember The Hulk. Look at THAT cobra roll.

There are many out there that don't go immediately into the loop. Wildfire, Alpengeist, Drachen Fire (RIP), Dueling Dragons, Hulk, Revolution, Sooperdooperlooper, Vortex, Great Bear (helix before drop), Steel Phantom, X-flight, Batwing, Stealth. I also think Dragon Mountain, Tenessee Tornado, Revolution.

That's just off the top of my head and not including launched coasters!

However, I do see your point. The majority of loopers do go right into a vertical.

Extensive list Peabody!. I'll just add that even Pinfari's Looping Zyklons have the loop farther along in the ride.
yes, Peabody's list is extensive, but did you realize he listed Sooperdooperlooper twice? lol

Can't forget Cyclone at Dreamworld. Not only does it not have the loop first, but the loop is the last thing on the actual ride! Well, thats really the only way you can have it when the coaster is 150ft tall, and the loop is the standard Arrow one at ground level. And believe me, you're still chuffing along at a nice speed when you hit it.

I think this coaster prooves nicely that inversions aren't all a ride is. It is almost as if they were put in as a way to take some space, and speed at the end. Ya' know, added at the last moment.

If you don't get the drift of this ride, just for fun, here's a (small) picture of the thing. Try and follow the track along, the only thing after the loop is a hill up to the station and a bend into the brakes.

Ive noticed that a lot of B&Ms usually go from the drop to a loop.
I thouht Vekoma's term for the first element on the SLC was a heart-beater or something.

The question was steel looping.

Thank you B&M ROCKS, the question stated looping coasters, Stealth, Batwing are flying roller coaster. It would just be stupid to start off with a loop. My question was if coasters started with an inversion( woops, I used elements) other than a loop, wouldn't that allow them to make larger inversions, such as The Hulk. The Hulk's cobra roll is how high? A lot higher than Medusa, Kumba, BatmanKF, and Superman's.

And let's stick to looping coaster and stay away from launch, reverse-lift, shuttle, and dueling coaster. Coaster like Chang to Demon.

Corkscrew at CP drops in to a small hill then a loop.

joey isch, a small hill isn't an inversion.

Actually SUF does start with a drop and a loop. Yes, I know we're not really talking about flyers, but SUF has the drop, and then, up to the top of the pretzel loop.

I know Son Of Beast isn't a steelie but it is the only looping wodden roller coaster and it doesn't go stright into the loop after the second drop.
Actually the "orignal" looping coasters (Arrow's Corkscrew @ Knott's and Schwartzkopf's Great American Revolution @ Magic Mountain) did not proceed directly into an inversion after the first drop.
