The term "Gravy Buffet"

It's called "Old Country" for a REASON, people.
I don't know how much plainer they could make it...

The number 1 time when Coasterbuzzers and Pointbuzzers really laugh at ACErs is during coastermania when there is an ERT on Magnum and another at the same time on like Dragster or Millie.

Believe it or not, some of us still prefer Magnum and can fit on MF and TTD.

I don't know what Sheikrafanatic is getting at but Magnum is still my favorite steel coaster.

Who's laughing at who and why again?

Does Old Country Buffet cater? :)

There's an Old Country Buffet in the same shopping center as the Bally's Total Fitness I go to. If it's not the old people I have to slow down for crossing to get to their cars, it's the people who should be at the Bally's.

Well...

Lets just say that ACErs get a buffet of coasters too.

Thanks for another great season, VF!

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

I'm not an overly obese person and I see this whole "gravy Buffet" as mean spirited and an easy way for those with self confidence problems to be able to feel better about themselves. Making fun of people different than you (or possibly just like you) is not a healthy way of raising your self esteem.

And that's my take on the subject.

Great link, Matt!

I can't believe that would be the first thing to show up on a search engine list.

Way too funny!

Thanks for another great season, VF!

I'm proud that CoasterBuzz is second only to ACE for that search term.

That's hilarious!

Old Country is NOTHING. You should drive by our local Ryan's or Golden Corral on a Sunday afternoon after church lets out. It's a mob!! ;)

Dexter, I don't think it's meant to be mean-spirited, at least from what I have seen anyway.

I have seen the term used more as a way to describe just how FAST the food goes at some events, and how some people (thin or overweight..doesn't matter) will carry up to three or four plates of food with them at once. ;)

I will never forget one of the SFOG employees announcing over the loudspeaker at Spring Fling "You guys better get what you can the first time around because there may not be enough for seconds!" ;)

The funny thing is I can't recall seeing actual gravy at any event buffets except maybe one. :)

It's a comment that plays off the stereotype that hardcore enthusiasts like ACE members are a bunch of overweight, food-addicted, unmarried, homosexuals with low-paying jobs that have nothing better to do with their lives than travel the world in search of coasters. It manages to be totally inaccurate while still rooted in some truth.

I agree, just like most coaster buzzer's are a bunch of middle aged loser's still living in there parents basements, that havent "had" a real woman without paying for it in 10 years, that speculate and argue like a room full of retards over the dumbest topics ever posted on the net.

Why, dex, why? Deal with your own self esteme. I realy can't tell if you're serious anymore or just doing some kind of gag.

I AM an ACEr (for what...the 100th time)! And I know there are others that come to this site. But to be honest. I come here because the ACE web site sucks!

And no. I've only seen gravy at the formal banquet events. With guest speakers like Tom Rebbie and Claude Mabillard.

Now you've got me name dropping. Damn!

But the gravy? I somehow always manage to get some on my tux at those things. *** Edited 9/2/2007 5:27:56 AM UTC by WildThingNative***

What? An Acer name dropping? Never. ;)

Just another reason I have not renewd my ACE Membership since 2001. The only year I was a member.

Funny thing is that it was a pair of morbidly obese coaster snobs that convinced me to "quit" ace. After spending an hour in line for a coaster with them, and thier "coaster facts" and whatnot, I decided I had no desire to be associated with those people ever again.

Been Better off since.

Guess who's back? Back Again? James K's back. Tell a friend.

I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to be an ACE member, but that reason seems a little odd to me. The reason you're not with ACE is because you don't want to be associated with people talking coaster facts in line? I'm not sure why that would bother you, or anyone for that matter, especially when that group of people you spent time with is in no way indicative of all ACE members.
Apparently talking coaster facts in line for a coaster is bad and talking coaster facts on the internet is sublime.
