"The Ride Is On the Boat"

We’ve all heard “the check is in the mail,” but this is the first time I’ve heard “the ride is on the boat.” That’s right—the folks at Zamperla have finished construction of HallowSwings and loaded it on a ship headed from Italy to, well, somewhere on the East Coast. (It’s highly doubtful we’ll see it coming down the Ohio River.)

I realize coaster enthusiasts won’t be quite as excited about this as they would a “track sighting,” however if you happen to be crossing the Atlantic and see a Halloween-themed wave swinger, you’ll know its destination!

Meanwhile, nearly all of the Zinga “tunnel” fiberglass has arrived. Next will be the “funnel” fiberglass. With the funnel standing six stories (on its side), it’ll be a sight to behold!

As you may have seen on our webcam, Liberty Launch looks ready to go. (The operative word is “looks” … we still have some finishing work, plus testing to do.)

One final note: We’ve seen a few newsgroup posts recently regarding close-by hotel availability for Stark RAVEN Mad (May 30-31). As of today, Santa’s Lodge (812-937-1902) here in town is about half-full; and in Dale (about 10 minutes away) the Motel 6 (812-937-2294) has 9 singles left, one smoking double, and several suites; and the Baymont Inn (812-937-7000) wants us to pass along that if you identify yourself as a coaster enthusiast coming to SRM they’ll extend a rate of $79.95. They’re about half-full, also.

Thanks, as always, for your interest. And Happy Valentine’s Day from everyone here at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari! :)

Paula is *flat*-out the best PR person anywhere...;) Great news Paula, thanks for passing it along. I'm even going to predict right now that HallowSwings will *surpass* your expectations for ridership. A GREAT choice, nothing short of HW standards....with Liberty Launch and Zinga, I wouldn't be *AT ALL* surprised to see another 20+% increase in attendance, and NOBODY deserves it more!

Thanks also for the hotel info, hoping to get Jill to commit to one of them....as much as I enjoyed camping with the reindeer, just not much of a camper...;).

bill, not sure why, but for some reason ALWAYS drawn into a battle of punmanship when Paula posts...:)

There were puns in that post, 'Gator? I must not be fluent in Asteriskeese. But I agree with you about Paula. There's no one better at putting a good *spin* on a story than her ;)

...'Moosh, only one pun....sorry. It was one of those "early, NOT often" deals....I'll be sure to *spin* some ideas and *spew* some thoughts on the state of puns (and flats), the awesome dynamic duo at HW, I'll *launch* a few trial balloon puns re: the new S&S ride, and of course, I'll keep you posted on the "Great Camping Debate of '03"...;)

SRM, it's not just an event, it's an adventure...:)

'Gator - I noticed your pun but I guess it was my teasing that fell *flat* not your humor. Next time I want to throw a *zinga* your way I'll make sure you know I'm just joshing.

Always enjoying the pun fests,

Well, I guess if you want to say that I missed the boat, so to speak, with your original *baiting*, then I'll let you *off the hook* for commenting that I only had but only lonely little old pun in that long post. I wasn't really *sharking* for puns in that post, since I've kinda gotten into the teasing about the hotel vs. camping thing...that one should *float* for a while...

A cookie for the first person to name Popeye's father...since we're on such a nautical theme....and just for posterity's sake, I'd like to note that Paula started this one out "that" way...;)

Okay, Moosh and 'Gator. Let's not get too stern over this.

I think I'll wave my rights to wade into this punfest. I'll just bow out now. Shore would be fun, though...

A good sail for Zamperla, I'd say.

Paula certainly does go *full throttle*, eh? And just when I thought this thread would sail right through the channel with no discernible wake....thankfully, the thread has taken a *tern* for the better...;)
