With all the bashing about brakes and lack of G forces, I was just thinking of why I liked coasters.
What about the ride. Yes the ride. Being up 150'+ in the air, skimming past trees, making hairpin turns, and just having fun.
Hopefully I'm not alone here.
I do believe that, this week, the moment that I sat atop a 310' lift hill, peering downwards into an endless, foggy abyss, and realizing that not only was I going to almost double my town's highest speed limit BUT I was going to love it, I realized what an effect The Ride really does have. It's why we analyze and bash and comment and criticize and love in the first place. Without having realized that magical experience, we would never find ourselves where we are in an enthusiasts community, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't lost sight of that.

I am not talking about the ride engineering, temperatures changing track and stuff like that.
It is about atmosphere. The Ride... I love it
This is my first post, so be gentle.
"The Ride" changed my life physics day 2001, which is basically an excuse to get school credit to go to SFGAdv in my area. I was talked into riding Nitro. Next to NLT due to overcast day and high schools only. Was hooked from that day on. Whenever I'm at SFGAdv, odds are there's at least one other member there, cause I probably drove him. Others started me off, but The Luv Monkey is getting me addicted.

One thing I do to minimize my complaining about coasters is when I get off I think about 10 things I really like and only 1 thing that could be better. This helps me not complain as much about the ride, but enjoy it more after and during the ride. Sometimes I ride a coaster looking for flaws and stuff I don't like and other times I'll ride the ride for pure fun! And enjoy every second of it!

Gas to get to PKI, $5.60. ACE card for walkback, $50.00. Meeting up with Beastnum1 and drinking 20 lemonjuice packets, priceless
John, welcome to CoasterBuzz!! And yes, if it wasn't for The Ride, I doubt we would be where we are!
See people, coasters bring people together!
