The "Remember when..." Coasters.

Remember when there was no Power Tower, no TTD, none of that....and that path going towards Gemini was just gorgeous with Iron Dragon weaving in and out of the weaping willows and Corkscrew's bunny hop being totally hidden by the trees? Ah. So nice.
Conneaut Lake Park remember whens:

* The park had 2 dark rides- the Devil's Den and Dracula's Cave (also known as the Pit Of Death).

* The park had a boat ride called the Jungle Cruise (I think) that was on par with Geauga Lake's old Big Ditch ride. The canal can still be seen today when you ride the park's West Nile Express... I mean, the Bessemer Railroad.

* The park had a killer Rotor called the Hell Hole.

* There used to be a big ape on top of the Ultimate Trip building.

* A Chance Sky Wheel sat on the spot currently occupied by the Toboggan (I'd take the Sky Wheel over the Toboggan any day!).

* "Fairyland Forest" was a second gate for Conneaut Lake. Camperland now resides there.

* The Blue Streak was actually blue.

Remember when:

The only coasters at Cedar Point were the Blue Streak and the Scamper?

The only way to get to Frontier Town was the sky lift and the train? ( know it's not coaster related, but...)

Gemini was the tallest wooden roller coaster?

Disaster Transport had working themeing? (and huge lines!)

Mean Streak ran mostly trimless and had airtime?

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

Remember when Magnum's lift hill had the cool lights, that would chase, and make funky designs at night...

Remember when Corkscrew at Geauga Lake had two trains, the red train was so much faster then the blue...

Those were the days.

That was really nice. Also to add to that:

Frontier Sky Ride, the totally tree covered Frontier Trial (before Mantis and MF), and riding Paddlewheel Excursions through beautiful wilderness scenery instead of beautiful twisted coaster track.

Remember when....

There used to be a place you took a steam-boat to and that was half the fun.

An indoor Arrow corkscrew operated year-round where it snows.

One hundred feet was a HUGE drop. $7.95 seemed excessive for an all day pass.

Nobody will ever need more than 64k.

Screamin' Eagle was THE record breaker of all time.

And then...

Gemini was the tallest STEEL coaster. Colossus was the tallest WOODEN coaster.

People looked forward to new rides. ;)

Remember when...

...you rode down to CP in the back of and old blue Ford station wagon, no car seat, no safety belts, nothin'...

...you stared in amazement at those cigar-shaped cars screaming around the track and said to yourself, "Someday, I'll ride the Jumbo Jets"...

...you looked forward to walking through the Fun House with its tilted room and slide exit...

...you knew that Corkscrew was one intense ride, 'cause it was the only thing in the park that had those shoulder harnesses...

Later,
EV

Remember when:

Viper at SFGadv was actually a decent ride and didn't kill you when you rode it? :) ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Remember when the Iron Dragon was red
Remember when the Mantis entrance was facing more towards the middle
Remember when TTD was down everyday
I remember when Colossus had the double drop that was modified into a brake run.

Soap Box Derby Racers @ Knotts were the bomb- you can still find pictures on RCDB.COM and they're amazing, i wish I had pictures of them.

I remember when Raptor was the biggest and newest (and perhaps most extreme) coaster @ CP? My first trip there was that year.

Time sucks, i wish i could go back.

SFStL remember whens:

- there were two mine train coasters

- the park was called Six Flags Over Mid America

- the Jet Scream was the only looping coaster I'd ever seen

- Screamin' Eagle ran backward for a season

- Ninja was the biggest looper I'd ever seen

- the Hannibarrels were open

- the parachute tower still existed

- the one glorious season of the Condor
