The RB Backseat Appreciation Thread!! (Ride Review

I took too long to type this, so you may see this elsewhere. :-)

Who else like me realizes that there is no seat on Raging Bull like the backseat?

Ok, the front seat is alright a nice smooth ride, but the back is where the word "raging" is applied.

Nothing beats ascending to the top of the B&M dip and getting pulled over like a normal drop.

But RB is not normal in the back seat. Oh no

You see, the combination of the drops proximity to the dip along with the dip make it that much more terrifying. On normal coasters, you get WHIPPED into the drop in the back. You know, starting slowly and getting flung.....

but on RB, you have to watch all the rows ahead of you drop into oblivion. You notice that as it gets closer and closer to your turn, the rows start dropping faster and faster, until you realize that your row is going to be the fastest of all. Either you clutch that restraint(like I used to do), or you put ya' hands up(like I do now).

Then it happens, you get SNAPPED into the first drop with incredible airtime into the minuscule tunnel, which looks too close for comfort.

After the initial encounter with the Bull it's up the banked turn. If youre lucky enough to catch an inside seat, RB will threaten to dump you out 150 ft. into the crowd of onlookers in line for Viper, who by the way are all turning their heads following the trains every motion. The drop out of the banked turn brings you back to reality by forcing you out of your seat.

Next up is a large camel back hill that provides floater airtime, no matter where you're sitting, but most in the front. Don't worry about the front though, they're going to miss out on whats next.

You climb into a severly banked drop. If you were in one of the outside seats from the first banked turn, you get your turn to watch the amazed faces of potential RB riders following the train intently. But pay attention, because the bull is not through with you. It forces you out of the seat again, but this time it throws you into a trench that seems less than 5 feet under the beginning of the lift hill.

If you survived that, you have yet another chance to make faces at onlookers, as the Giant Drops future riders follow the train through it's banked turn/inclined loop.

After the train straightens out quite sharply, you are allowed a moments recovery as the train rolls through the break run.
I hope you savioured that moment, because without notice, you are ejected out of the seat in plain view of an on ride photo camera and thrown into a camel back hill that dishes out even more airtime.

The train then whizzes through a small helix into another drop a la the one off the brakes. Your behind pops out of the seat again as you are thrown into the figure 8 finish. Now this part of the ride is best ridden in the front, but you do feel a slight amount of positive G's and some airtime on the small final drop. The best part though is it's proximity to the ground. It makes this wild animal seem like it's going much faster than it is.

After the 8, the ride straightens out quickly and you are slammed into the breaks, adding an exclamation point into an already spectacular ride. Still there people? The hardest part of getting off, is......getting off!

All in all, the back seat of RB is what makes
the ride my favorite hyper. Anyone wanna share comments?
Amen, goonsta. The back seat is incredible on the drop. I've never ridden anything that feels like it wants to throw you out of the train like that.
I have a feeling Apollo's and Nitro's are very similar, however.
About that, Lifthill310. I was expecting the first hill of Apollo to be very similar to Bull in the back seat. Back in 99 I was lucky enough to ride both within a week. I must say that I felt that the first drop/back seat was a little more intense on the Bull. It just seemed to yank a litter harder.
On the other hand, Nitro feels different since there is no dip at the crest. Is that way better? That's not for me to decide. Some may prefer one, while some may prefer another. (I kind of prefer the dip on Bull)

Backseat on the Raging Bull is the best ever.
Backseat rocks. Rode it on 5-18 and it was just amazing.

Yes, the back seat is amazing! I didn't think the back seat on Apollo was quite the same. It's my favorite and most rided seat :)

Who was at BGW on April 28th.
First time I went on it in 99 I went back oudside seat (exit side.) It was scary, as it was my first hyper-coaster. I loved it, but I still think it does not compare to Viper. Airtime is great on the Bull's back seat, ok in the middle (yet to ride the front, that is this year.) But Viper airtime is great all over, I think. Sometimes I wonder if the Bull would be as good without Viper, as I belive the two compliment each other.

I can be rude. I'm going to try to be nicer on these boards from this date forward, May 21, 2001
I must admit, the first drop in the baack seat is one of the best moments on any coaster ever. Truly inspired, truly wild.

Let the bears pay the Bear Tax, I pay the Homer Tax.

I agree, my first ride on RB was in the back (the general public doesn't seem to like the back seat) . I love it, more so then the front, it seems smoother.

Georgia Scorcher...OH yeah it's fire baby!!!
Raging Bull is my favorite steel coaster because....

1. The layout rocks. I love twisting and turning all over instead of the usual out and back layout most hypers out there have.

2. The trains are soooo comfortable, open, and wonderful.

3. Night rides are phenominal. I remember when I first rode the front seat at night and the fireworks were going off on Hometown Square (for the 25th anniversary celebration) when the train whipped around the first turn after the tunnel. Very memorable.

4. The air time you get on the ride is fantastic in the back seat, especially when you are whipped off the lift hill and mid course brake.

Odd, I actually liked the front seat better (even in driving rain). Because of the tight peaks it really launches you.

Still, a great ride no matter where you're sitting!

Interesting, man. I've never heard anyone else that thought the back seat on bull was a little stronger on that first drop. I did Bull first, then Apollo a few days later. I was (ever so slightly) disappointed that Apollo didn't yank as hard. (That maybe brought that ride from a 9.94 to a 9.93 for me!) I wondered if anyone else felt that way. That last row on the bull is a religious experience going over that first dip!

I am also going to hop on the backseat RB bandwagon. I love the pull you get over the first drop. Everytime I am in the backseat going over the initial drop, I always think, DAMN! if this restraint unlocks, someone is going to mop up my remains with a sponge. What a rush in the backseat but the front gives great air going up the peak of the hills.

My choice seat for the Bull is back row left side seat. I like it the best when your in the "FINAL FRENZY" as it is officially called by the park. RB is my number one coaster. I love every aspect of the ride, it never gets old.

I prefer the front seat slightly over the back seat but the wait is always less for the back seat. In any case, the left side of the train is the best. Two weeks ago I got assigned to row five, and I was like man, that bites. Wait almost an hour and then get a non distinct row. Boy was I wrong. I thought I was going to fall off the train on the portions of the ride where it comes close to the ground.

I allway's thought that was B&M's best finsiher. And from where you said where you like to sit, I'm pretty sure you can touch the ground if your hands reach far enough. I almost had it once...

There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people.
Yes, the back row ROCKS! It is like nothing else. The first drop in the back is Heaven. And about Final Frnzy, I always try to touch the ground but I can never get low enough, and if I did, my hands would probably rip off. Good thin I'm short. ;)

Finally someone is right. I've rode the front on the bull, and the only thing it was good for is taking pictures. The back is sweet. I'd take the back over the front any day. Especially with the lines the front row gets (It's not worth it).
