Come on people!!!! Tear down the King's Island RACER?? The BRADY BUNCH rode on it!! (....hoots and snickers from the audience....)
Now here's something I don't understand - how does "retracking" a wooden coaster smoothen the ride? And what is retracking, exactly? I don't see how it's possible.
Not aimed at anyone in particular Jeff, eh? ;)
Retracking the coaster is pretty much like this I believe.... if you didn't know, wooden track is made from several layers of wood laminated together, then a piece of steel for the wheels to ride on. I believe they take off all of the old laminated wood, and replace it with new wood. That's basically retracking. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong.)

Backwards Racer remains one of my favorite coasters, ever.
While we're scrutinizing spelling here...it's consistent. Not consistant.

Yeah, Coaster Aaron, I admit it's a rediculous question, probably even a stupid one. But hey, everyone is entitled to at least a few of them in life.
I understand that a series of laminated boards combined with flat metal "rails" make up the track itself, but if you have a piece of track, how does simply tearing out the old wood and steel and replacing it with new wood and steel make the coaster run more smoothly? I would think that to make a wooden coaster run more smoothly, loose boards would have to be removed or tightened, the gauge would have to be adjusted, or the wheels would have to be changed, whatever.
Sorry if it's a dumb question.
