The problem with Iron Wolf is....?

I went on Iron Wolf today and it was as smooth as any B&M coaster would be! Very fun and intense. Just curious, dont all B&M's have those rubber things that keep the wheels in contact with the rails have it on the up-stops? If they do, Iron Wolf does not have them because I was watching it and the up-stops didn't even move.

I am proud to say my homepark has 3 B&M's, soon to be 4, hopefully.;)

I know what you mean, but what does "quasi" mean? Does that spot slow you at all? Did something used to be there?

There's nothing there...and there never has been. But the track structure is noticeably different right there. My guess is that B&M put that little straightaway section in just in case some trim/block brakes would need to be installed. Hopefully Wolf will stay unbridled!

Q: "The problem with Iron Wolf is..."

A: It's a standup.

-----------------
Without the chaindog, you'd never get up the lifthill...

My trick with standups has always been stand up stright, then grab the harness and pull it down to your sholders, and hold it there till they lock it in, you'll have not as much headbanging, and on Georiga Schorcher when I do that I have about 6-8 inch between the seat and my package.
Back in the day, I really liked Iron Wolf.

Then they modified the restraints.

I rode it a couple of years ago in the back and the first 30 seconds or so were fine. Then we hit the first sharp banking moment and the ear pad tried to brain me. It didn't hit your head or neck, like Shockwave did -- it went straight for your ear.

I vowed to never ride the thing again after that (and haven't since) and buried it dead last on my coaster list as its the only ride I've ever been on where I wanted nothing to do with it ever again.

And I *like* Shockwave.

And it's butt ugly.

How did they modify the restraints? Are they larger now? And how does it make a difference?

A couple years ago (I think as late as the 99' season) the restraints were like this:

The new ones are like this:

Intamin designed iron wolf's trains not B&M that is why they do not include that feauture.

Iron Wolf is butt ugly? Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that's the second time I've read that today... What exactly makes it an ugly ride? The first generation standup trains? The deep red paint job? I just don't get it...

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Oh, it hurts, it hurts.

Not so much the ride itself (although it does) but just the comparison to what this ride is now to what it used to be. Once, it was as smooth as silk, with the compact intensity B&M excells at. Now, it's a rickety, head-banging nightmare. I've been tempted not to ride it during recent visits. And, people, it's not the new harnesses that make it so bad. The ride was well on it's way to it's current state two years before the alteration. I remember thinking, when I first saw them "Wow! Maybe those are supposed to be smoother trains, so it'll be as smooth as it used to be!" If that was supposed ot be the case, it didn't work at all.

I can't figure out why people think that its an ugly ride... the first generation trains aren't exactly beautiful, but the ride is a lot prettier than Deja Vu!
No way, Rob. DV's colors are cool.

The new restraints are better padded and softer than the old ones. You guys are crazy. Although the coaster is showing it's age, in regards to smoothness (or lack thereof), the new restraints definitely HELP make it MORE comfortable. As for ugly, well, it's not V2 or Deja Vu, but every coaster can't be the same purty bright colors.

I'm with JC. I like the new restraints, as well.

I think what Rob meant was the half-assed paint job Deja Vu recieved. Any coaster can have a great color scheme ruined by a poor paint job. Iron Wolf's paint job is well done. The color has kept up throughout the seasons.
