The park with the best mix of wood and steel?

SFOG has two woodies: a top-rated twister and a solid out and back... a B&M inverted... a well-liked B&M standup... the Schwarzkopf Mindbender... Superman... the only glaring "hole" in the line-up is a hyper coaster!
I guess maybe Hershey, but other than Great Bear, what really good steel coaster do they have? I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you on Kennywood. Though they have PR, what other good coaster steel coaster do they have? (and I'm sorry, but I CANNOT for the life of me consider the Exterminator even as an average coaster.) Is there actually a park around that has, say, two wooden and two steel world class coasters? I think the closest park would have to be PKI. I mean, they have Beast, SOB, FOF, and I think you could consider Vortex world class.

Rob, that's not just SFoG's hole.. It's the entire freaggan SOUTH'S ROTTEN STINKING HOLE to fill. ;)

OK, I give....SFoG is that good....the wood has regained top form, and the steel is great! I'm still *annoyed* about the Anton rotting away, but that's corporate's decision....the park is awesome, and the colection more well-rounded than most by far.

PKD, the wood needs some care....Hurler is still good, Ghoster Coaster is an awesome junior wood, but Rebel Yell is sad in comparison to "the good old days" when I was a youngster, and Grizzly....I could write an essay that'd take longer than the total maintenance time put in on that coaster.

For those who claim HP has weak steel, perhaps you've forgotten the uniqueness of GB's layout, or the intensity of the Anton that PROVES beyond doubt how AWFUL Revolution has become....

boblogone, LMAO about the 10% comment...didn't realize we had so many "agents" around hyeah.....

Brian, we can keep *asking* for a hyper, the squeaky wheel is "supposed" to get the grease....or so I was told...;)

I have ridden the future, and it's name is......X!

As much as I love Hershey (and y'all KNOW I love Hershey) I dont think that their steel coasters are anything to brag about. Great Blah is the *one* B&M invert I like less than Raptor, SDL is a yawner (sorry, I'm not a Schwarzkopf Slut), Sidewinder, while one of T's favorite rides, is merely aiight, Roller Soaker: The Experience is non-stop *****ts and giggles, but Roller Soaker: The Ride is an "ehh". And while it may be "Best in Class", all mice suck!

But dont get me wrong, the wood and the atmosphere make this park more that worthy! The atmosphere makes even the lack luster steelies seem like "Big Fun".

Nah, my wood/steel is limited to SFStL (Freeze Batman Boss Eagle), SFA (S:ROS, JJ, Bat-Junk, Wild One ROAR), BGT (Montu Kumba, Gwazi-Lion, Gwazi Tiger), SFGAm (Viper Bull, B:TR Eagle).

Dorney Park is close, but they only have one good steel coaster (Talon), but two very fun woodies!

Hershey has the best wood, my 2 favorites, (LR and WC), but it only has one good steel (Great Bear). I loved Great Bear, but Hershey has no other steel.

SFA definitely wins this one. Two fabulous woodies, and 4 fabulous steel.

Lucky me, I live within 2 hours of each of them.

SDL is a "yawner" but Jerkules is THAT good....I think I've woken up in an alternate universe.... But hey, if jeremy knows how to get BGT to run BOTH sides of Gwazi on the SAME day, he must know SOMETHING I don't....

edit: can't belive that SDL gets NO love....what IS this place?

Come on, people! Knoebels, with Phoenix, Twister, and High Speed Thrill Coaster...you just can't beat that combo - although Raven, Legend, and Howler come close ;-)

Mamoosh, shame on you! You forget about Whirlwind at Knoebels.. First you forget a wonderful Vekoma, whats next??? Afterall, we all LOVE Vekoma and their wonderfully smooth (yeah right) rides.

I'd like to forget about Whirlwind, Blitz...and I'm hoping someday the park will make it a memory ;-) Actually I've heard its been giving them troubles this year, perhaps it might be on the way out soon? I'd trade it for a Mouse any day.

I'd say SFoT. While The Giant gets mixed reviews, I consider it a true gem, and JRS is fair. Their Steel is awesome... Titan, Batman, Freeze and Shockwave really rock, and their "supporting" steel ain't bad either.

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

Yeah, Whirlwind, the coaster I will *not* be riding once during PPP.

chris - assuming its even offered for ERT this year. Last year it was and there was absolutely no line for it. Ride ops were begging us to re-ride as they were totally bored. And when my friend Jim visited the park on a weekend last month he witnessed the same thing. Ridership is way down.

Same thing last season when I went. It was an August weekday, and the park was pretty busy. Phoenix and Twister both had 30 minute waits, while Whirlwind was a complete walk-on.

p.s. What happened to that new sig you came up with?

Ha, I'd actually put Shockwave and Titan *in* the supporting cast :). Mr Freeze and his arch-rivals are the *real* stars.

Kennywood, and Hersheypark. No doubt about it.
Never been there but Great America seems to be the clear winner. Their selection is even more diverse than CP or PKI...IMHO ofcourse

Which would put them in the "ain't bad either" category according to my original post.

I think that SFWOA has a good mix.
