The one park you wanted to go to as a kid

Hey, what was the one park you wanted to go to as a kid. For me it was Six Flags Astroworld(I really don't know why after all of the negative things I have heard about it) because I saw something on theme parks where one segment showed Ultra Twister and I thought it was the coolest thing. A few years later it changed to SFMM because I saw a segment on a show about Superman(some may knock it, but I thought it was cool). Thankfully, I got to go last summer and had a great time except for the fact my dad threw up after Riddler's.

SFMM. Seeing Superman: The Escape made me drool! I'll make it to the park someday.
Even though I was born 4 years after it closed, I always wanted to go to Riverview in Chicago when I was a kid. Heck, I am an adult and want to go to it now. :)

My parents and grandparents used to tell me great stories of this park

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Belle Vue in Manchester, England. And the worst of it is that I did go, but was only around five years old and can't remember a thing about it!!

518 coasters ridden but who's counting...............?
After seeing National Lampoon's Vacation I soooooooo wanted to go SFMM and my dream finally came true July "03" , Nov "03" and March "04".

The Golden Rule - Try it once and if you don't like you don't have to go on again!
Astro Astro Astro land...at Coney Island (That was the jingle way.....way way back when).

Back when I was living in the Jamaica they used to have ads for the legendary Astroland at Coney Island (talk about aggressive ad campaign)

You know you're old when someone answers "the park you wanted to go as a kid" with "seeing STE made me drool." It was built in 1996 for chrissakes!

Me? I wasn't really aware of parks outside of So Cal when I was a kid other than Kings Island, which I saw on 'The Brady Bunch' and then later The Bat on 'That's Incredible.' So I guess that would have to be it.

Being an old geezer, watching the Brady Bunch in the one infamous episode, as well as the Banana Splits riding all the rides during the shows intro made me always want to visit PKI as a kid. Which I did get to do a few years back, nice park, sure wish it was my local Paramount park instead.

Jomo - a lot of the Banana Splits' park footage was Coney Island Cincinnati, too.

Tra la la - Dogammit Jomo...now I have that song stuck in my head ;)

My kid days were in the mid 60's to mid 70's. I was most enamored by Astroland at Coney Island and of course, the Cyclone. It wasn't until 1992 that I finally made it up there.

Next up would be Magic Mountain & Astro World, both of which I eventually visited for the first time in the late 80's. *** Edited 5/18/2004 11:41:54 PM UTC by HarryTraver*** *** Edited 5/18/2004 11:42:27 PM UTC by HarryTraver***

As a kid I used to always look at the Guinness Book of world records. The one day I saw the part that had The Beast and a picture for the worlds longest roller coaster. I just remember thinking Cincinnati was so far from from me it might as well be on the other side of the planet. Little did I know it was about a 10-12 hour drive from central PA.

I just rembember thinking I gotta ride that someday. I did back in 2000 finally!

I wanna go to PKI!

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

BGW to ride Drachen Fire. Once I finally got the guts to get on Steel Phantom, I wanted to ride anything with loops and I thought at the time that Drachen Fire was the only other coaster anywhere near PA with loops! Sadly, (or maybe not?) the first time I got to BGW was the year DF closed.

Anything Disney. I'm sure I'll make it one day...And CP. But that is gonna be a definite this summer.

I think the only parks I was really aware of as a kid were PKI, the Disneys, Silver Dollar City, Opryland, Camden, and the Myrtle Beach parks so I remember wanting to go to those.

Oh, and I remember seeing Magic Mountain in so many shows and movies as a kid and being fascinated with it, and finally getting to visit in 2002. Who could ever forget Kiss meets the Phantom of the Park? :-o

I always wanted to go to Busch Gardens Wiliamsburgh. Finally got to go last year and I was far from dissapointed.
For Me, We always went to Geauga Lake and very rarly did we go to CP, for me even though i've never got to go, I wish I was born earlier that way i could go to Chippawa Lake Park, if it was still alive today it would be alot like kennywood in pennsylvania, but it closed, but they're are burned down buildings and ton of vandalism and the park is overgrown with trees, vines, grass, and weeds. But Geauga Lake was good enough for me! :)

I always wanted to go to Cedar Point. Back in the early 80's my parents would do a street race every year on South Bass Island in Put-In-Bay. I would read the brochures and wanted to go so bad. Never made it to the park until 2000.

Certain victory.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg!

Thanks,

Disney/Magic Kingdom. I didn't go until I was 25, but I still nearly cried when I saw the castle and Mickey. :)
