The Maverick upgrade that might be bigger than the Rougarou one...

After years of riding Maverick defensively, it felt great to just let myself go for once. Definite thumbs up on the new restraints.

After years of not wanting to ride Maverick at all.... Ditto.

Here's something, though, and perhaps it was my perception, or an illusion, but the ride seemed slightly slower to me this year. Maybe it was just because it was so much easier for me to ride, and with the old restraints the transitions seemed quicker and more forceful (only because I was worried about it, maybe?)

And I don't know, I had three back-to-back rides early in the morning around 9:30, so that might've been it too. When I go back I'll take my bug shield and try to snag a nighttime ride.

I also felt Maverick was running slower. I never had a major issue with the OTSRs, but the new restraints *are* still better. Rougarou, though, finally, the ride is fun.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

We rode Maverick after dark on Sunday and it seemed as fast as ever, although we were sitting in the back. What a difference those restraints make. I barely noticed they were there. Unfortunately, there's still the possibility of being stapled by an overzealous ride host, and more so than Millennium or Dragster, that's a particularly bad one to endure stapling.

Maverick did feel a bit faster at night, but overall didn't seem any slower than years past.

Rode this for the first time with the new restraints, and I can report that Maverick went from my favorite coaster in the park to my even more favorite coaster in the park.
