So, today, I went to Six Flags Great Adventure. It was close to perfect for somebody who would rather not wait and dislikes crowds, and doesn't care about getting a bit wet (it rained all day, but was at least warm)

I'll just post the pictures, and you guys can figure out the events yourself.
Pay attention to the pictures.

Ok, so after watching Kingda Ka and Balin for a while, I decided to go see Kingda Ka. Yea, I know, it isn't open yet. (I was the first guest who made it past the main construction area)

Unopened yet, the guests areas look AMAZING. The theming in the area is much more than I ever expected. The fact that it was raining today also added to the Chinese-rainforest / bamboo-forest feel of the area. Fantastic job.

View of Kingda Ka from the queue line, at one point. (the queue line is extremely long, but doesn't box up like Dragster does. It's extremely long, running parallel to the ride, so you don't see the same thing 18 times before you move on to a new area)

I have a video, and I will release it as soon as Google approves of it / I find another host.

ENJOY YOUR RIDE.

Wow, some very great pics! Where'd you take those last couple pics from? Is that all part of the observation area or did you go up the exit or something? Some very good pics indeed! I love the decals on the train, the queue looks amazingly lush... reminds me of Goliath at SFMM... and the station look beautiful.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

I got permission from park management to go up to the ride's station. I'm special like that. :P
YEA great pics can't wait for media day! I also want to see the video! thanks!

If you can find me a hosting site that is at least 25mb, or a video hosting site, it'd be great. All the ones I've found have a catch of some sort, so they all suck.

Nice pics! That area looks so beautiful. I'm so happy that Six Flags got this area right. I hope this ride and new park area does very well for them.

Those are some nice pics. When Kingda Ka, and the Golden Kingdom is ready its going to be a great new area of the park. Six Flags has done a great job with everything. Looks like they were paying attention to details.
Amazing pictures Informer, Yesterday turned out pretty good, the park was empty and I got to see KK launch about a dozen times. The weather didn't cause too many problems with it completing the whole circuit. Again amazing pictures and nice job getting the access to take them.

Coasters Riden - 184
That looks awesome! Kingda Ka actually in my own oppinion is better than TTD because of the themeing. That themeing is incredible. It looks like you are in a jungle. Could of tried to hide KK a lil more but its kind of hard to find 456 foot trees.
Get the video up yet?

Found a good host for me to use? :P

I agree; nice pics.

The theming looks so good that people just might forget what park they are visiting. I haven't seen it in person yet, but it looks to me that the theming is on par with Busch.

Wow! Ummm...Okay i'll finally say it. "I am excited!"

Thanks for the pics.

PM me for hosting info :)

Nice update. Thanks for sharing.

Okay... I hate crowds... I hate waiting in line... therefore, Great Adventure is not one of my favorite places.

However... I don't mind getting wet. I got soaked last year on a rainy day at Carowinds, but got lots of rides (all walk ons). Yeah, the rain was a pain, but the lack of lines was well worth it.

That being said... what is Great Adventure's operating procedure on rainy days? Some parks (Carowinds, Knoebels) run in near down pours with only lightning or high winds stopping their coasters. Other parks (Hersheypark) will run in a light rain, but in a moderate to heavy rain they will basically shut everything down. What approach does Great Adventure take?

(I may have to wait for a rainy day to take a vacation day and head down there if it is business as usual for them in the rain)

It seems that rain alone won't close rides at GAdv (see the posted TR For 4/30).But rain and cold will (See my TR for 4/23). Lightning will definitely close things.

Watch the tram car please....

I have been on rides there in the pouring rain. The only things that close the coasters are thunderstorms and very high winds. But some flats will close in the rain because the ride platform gets very slippery. The park has closed down in the past do to bad weather but then they will give u free passes as well as a few exit passes.

I said I was going to wait for a rainy day... not a hurricane running the Atlantic coast. A moderate rain will do... just enough to keep huge crowds away.
