The "idiocy" of people and park picnic grills?

Who gave those who originally "reserved" it the right to deny everyone else the right to use that same grill from the time they filled it up until when they decided they themselves wanted to eat? I bet they'd be pretty pissed if they showed up for lunch at 11am and found every last grill reserved for people who wanted dinner later. With so few grills it should be first come, first serve. If everyone hurrys up and cooks and leaves there will be less issue than if a few selected people feel they are more important and can "reserve" the grill?

Me? I'd dump those losers' charcoal in an empty bag and fire up the grill with my own stuff. If they come back and complain about me stealing public property I could hand them their charcoal and tell them they can have dibs on it as soon as I finish.

James: I can certainly appreciate that opinion. I myself might be inclined to do that as well...ASSUMING, of course, that there was no other grill available. If there *was* another grill, I'd rather just avoid the hassle.

In either case, I dont think "squatting" the grill automatically makes them "losers".

Oh god...if another grill was available I doubt him, you, or me would even notice the "reserved" one.

And the title of being "losers" was earned by the way they reacted about the whole thing :o)

Heck, my first thought would have been that the charcoal was still there and unused from the previous day. I would never dream someone would put fresh charcoal in a grill as a reservation. Those things are first come, first serve whether it's the park or an amusement park. Some people are idiots! Kudos to you Mr. Villian.

My first thought would be to not use something that wasn't mine, but that's just me...

James, we were thinking about putting their charcoal in a bag and leaving it on the ground. We also were willing to give up a whole bag of unopened charcoal to them, but they were relentless on the grill. ;)

Pete, we just decided to leave the grill. Too many mayflies for an even bigger arguement. ;)
