the HULK Cloned?

I'm surprised that no park has bought a clone of the Hulk. I would think that this would be a big seller for B&M in the way that Batman was. I'm just wondering if Universal has exclusive rights to this track layout or what.

Another B&M coaster which I think should be cloned is TopGun the Jetcoaster (Carowinds). To me this is a much better invert than Batman.

Am I wrong, are there clones out there of these two coasters?????

I think it would be stupid to Clone those rides there such origanal rides. B&M shouldnt clone them IMO.But I do love the launched effect on Hulk maybe they could make another Custom lauched Sitdown that would be ok with me.

Universal developed the launch system, so you won't see that in use other places unless they license it.

TG - TJC might be a little bit pricey to clone due to it's clever use of the topography. There are 3 dives under ground level, one of which is a mist filled tunnel under a path. (also one of the most intense batwing elements ever) They could solve the problem by digging out the trenches, or just rework the batwing, but it is so perfect right now that I wouldn't want to see that happen.
I have a feeling that, if Hulk's launch system could legally be cloned, the ride would be too expensive for most parks to afford. And while I understand that TG: TJC is an excellent ride, it would probably be cheaper for a park to go with a Batman clone since it was designed for a flat parcel of land.

It's definately money and politics involved with that subject. I'm sure Universal has a tight keep on Hulk of some sort. Plus, that ride was a fortune from what I heard, not many parks could afford that, besides Disney that is.

Funny thing, according to the "Themepark Road Trip" on Travel Channel last night, Hulk is LIM launched... I thought it used motors and wheels....

I vist IOA weekly and yes the Hulk is definitely launched using motors to propel the wheels in order to launch the coaster.

George,

You were right, they were wrong. No doubt about it.

I'm not an enthusiast. I just play one on message boards.

Wow, that's a first...a roller coaster show getting a stat incorrect. ;)

Coasters can't be "best-sellers". They aren't books. Hulk is more of a pace-setter. It beats the path for other coasters to come. It's a slice of the future, and parks won't clone it, but they will probably use it as a role-model. Hulk was known for using new elements, so other parks will probably use these elements to make coasters similar to it.

..and that's my 2 cents.

i just don't think some of the top companies such as intamin and B&M don't clone their higher classed rides unless they are foundation (ie batman the rides). you look at Nemesis, Montu and all the intamin hypers..

nooooo.........

I think the tire launch system is embarassingly primitive (these days); I doubt such a system would be replicated elsewhere.

It is effective, though, and I've always found Hulk to be an enjoyable ride.

they use tires because B&M did not want to change their trian design. So universal came up with a creative solution. Use B&M transport wheels, just really fast.

Embarassingly primitive? Seems reliable enough to me. Seems unneccesary adding extra technology for the sake of it really.
Top Gun is very similar to Montu. As for the cloning,I've often said that with Six Flags money and B&M's creativity just imagine if all the Batmen were original designs. Cloning is for Vekoma

Batman rocks, plain and simple. Even Busch bought one for Sea World San Antonio called Great White. It has a small footprint, and is extremely intense. Most parks wouldn't have space for a ride such as Alpengeist which is also terrain based.

Due to what Jeff stated, the ONLY parks that *realistically* could get a clone of Hulk would be Universal parks....at least until/unless Vivendi gets its head out of the sand and starts "de-conglomerating"....
Am I the only one who is getting really tired of ride clones? B&M has basically been making the same ride for years. Most of them are far apart so it doesn't really matter, but I think it's about time they did something new (maybe more AIR).
