The hole in Drop Zone at PKI

I was at PKI yesterday, the 4th and as I approached the park at around 7 and I noticed that the box thing on top of drop zone seemed to have a hole in the side of it. Anyone know what happened or why its there? A few more things about PKI, Face/Off crew was very fast yesterday but I noticed that they put on brakes as the train does its first station fly through. I was a little dissapointed but its still a good ride. I dont know maybe they have always but this is the first time I noticed it. The fire works from the eiffel tower were very nice. I sat in action zone and saw everything nicely. I was a little dissapointed that a few rides stayed closed after the fire works including the beast but ill live.
Brakes are nothing new I don't think. The G's are so high anyway I wonder what they would be without the brakes.

As far as I know on Two face @ SFA there are no brakes being used on the first pass through the station.

When the train is launched from the top of the first lift it's still connected to the lift chain and the whole chain freewheels down with it until it releases in the station, there is however a small parking brake that is used for loading/unloading.

That hole is for workers to climb out and pull people up if there is no way it will drop. I think the breaks were probably to limit g force, it is pretty strong. If I remember the train doesn't freewheel, but rather disconnects. What rides were closed after 10?
Teenage Ninja, this hole is big and whats going to be the difference if the people are in the seats or in the box up there, will they take them down by helicopter? Also I've never noticed the hole before and I know it wasn't there at the end of last season. Plus the hole is on the outside not under the box

I believe that if they can't get them down automatically....the mechanics go up there and physically release the carts. Its not like the breaks are going to fail on the ride because they are only magnets.

But i may be wrong considering what happened to Acrophobia last week, but who knows.

You are the passengers on a most uncommon elevator, about to ascend into your very own episode of the Twilight Zone

How do the mechanics get up there, climb the tower?

Theres an elevator on the inside of the tower, I'm pretty sure thats what it is anyways, we'll have to ask shaggy, figured he woulda been in here by now.

84 coasters in Track Record!! Hypersonic XLC # 100 in July. Waiting for the 305 foot drop tower in 2003. Thank you PKD.

I've always wondered how they would get riders down if there was just no way they could not get it released in a reasonable amout of time. That would be one heck of an adventure.

You don't have to shout. Do you know how many internet etiquette laws your breaking by typing in all caps like that? Well........your breaking one. Don't type in all caps.

I don't know if you can see the chain in the station on Face off but you can on Two face and it defenitely does freewheel when the train is released from the first lift.
Hmmmm maybe it does freewheel I don't know don't ask me I'm just stupid.

There is indeed a two man elevator inside Drop Zone to allow maintenance workers access to the lift motors at the top. Also, the ring of 40 seats can be released manually at any time. Once way back in 2000, they were testing it and released the ring of seats half way through the magnets and it slowly moved towards the ground. I don`t know about the hole in the side of the checkered lift housing area.

Coney Island (Cincinnati) ride operator

What the box is for in my understanding is to get the passengers inside of it and then they would descend the tower via the spiraling staircase located in the tower. At leasts that is how they do it on the Giant drop at Great America. Also the box stops the riders from freaking out when they are stuck up there. If i'm wrong oh well but that is what a ride op on the Giant Drop told me.

But this hole im talking about almost looks like something flew into the side of the box, except it is a perfect rectangle hole. I'm goin again on the 13th so I will check. It almost looked like they painted black part of one side more than the checkered black and white is supposed to be. But I think its a hole. Maybe they are replacing the wall of the box up there

Hmmmm I don't know maybe your seeing things.
