The Greatest Wait

What things do you like or would like to see while you are waiting in lines for ride/ roller coasters. My top four.

1 mister/ fans

2 a movie

3 big speakers

4 Fact signs

What other thing would you like to see.

TTD was built

TTD was broke

TTD is alive

THEMING! How great is Dueling Dragons' que? I guess fact signs would fall under this.

Mister, fans, & shade

I like the ques that sit under the coaster, when that train roars overhead it gets me excited to ride. Exception would be S:TE cuz its TOO loud.

But then again, what do I know?

Good: TV screens.
Bad: TV screens that play CRAP.

Why can't parks play full-length cartoons, TV shows and movies instead of that Q-TV short-attention-span junk? I remember watching a Bugs Bunny cartoon at SFGAm in 1993 while waiting in line, and the crowd was really into it.

Misters and fans are good. Lines that wind through the coaster are good. Employees that yell at smokers and line-jumpers are good. Shade is good. Music is good.

Claustrophobia is bad (i.e. high walls, skinny queues). Huge blocks of mazes are bad. Theming soundtracks that repeat every 2 minutes are bad.

My blog You said, "I'm gonna run you down." I heard, "I'm an orangutan."
2 lines; one featuring hot chicks and the other with Dueling Dragons type theming for when you're there with your girlfriend ;) (I'm all about nasai's thinking, but I'm not all about gettin slapped ... )

Brett, Resident Launch Whore Anti-Enthusiast (the undiplomatic one)
Screw the misters give me air conditioning!

I also want something that will get me ready to ride the ride, weither it be thememing (like Disney rides and DD/Hulk) or fly bys by the coaster (the best being MF, TTD's wall kills the effect a little bit).

What I dont want to see: large amounts cattle lines, blacktop, uncovered ques, bad TV programing, non functional TVs, and gum.

Really Bad: TV Screens that don't work or worse yet don't have any sound so you can't enjoy the cartoons even if you can see them, and then that is if the sun isnt shining into the screen effectively blocking out the entire screen. I have yet to witness a set of those Q-TV's that you can actually hear the damned thing.

Certain victory.

I can stand looping music, I love Batman's song selection- but to see the same two minute clip on a TV four times is really pushing it. That and the atrocious glare that accompanies most TV's in line.

-Endless mazes

-Grade school hoochies

-Overfilling trash cans

-Ridiculously over-priced lemonade/slushies/pop

-No Shade

To me, the perfect example of how a line should look is Hulk/DD and on a lesser extent, Batman. I actually enjoy waiting for Hulk...

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Q-TV's that you can actually hear the damned thing

S:UF@SFGAm's monitors had sound you could hear as recently as July, and satitized music videos without all the nasty words you can hear on a garden variety FM radio station. Even after the Wardrobe Malfunction Incident.

Nasai: Just stand Tomoko in front of you already. Yeesh!
What I don't want to see...

1. indoor areas with no air conditioning/ventilation...ie S:TE (what happened to the fog, cold air, and ice palace like theming?)

2. q-tv's that are home to bees (psyclone at sfmm used to have this really bad before deja vu)

3. smoking

4. water fountains that are either as hot as coffee or look polluted

5. uninteresting, neverending, switchback mazes

What I do want to see...

1. SHADE, misters, fans, something to keep me from melting! (however, fans and misters should be turned off when it starts raining...we got even wetter in the Shrek line at USF because of those fans)

2. queues that are well kept...ie kept clean and ropes/bars that correctly direct people through the line so that it doesn't spill out onto the midway

3. queues that actually show something...be it the ride or theming, show me something, not just the endless zig zag of mullets and lil girls dressed as hoochies

4. good music...helps to pass the time

5. a fast moving queue...nothing is worse than standing in the same spot for 10 - 15 minutes.

...and such

I can understand the tv issue. The only one I could hear was at pki during july fourth and last weekend. As for movie fof at pki has a good one but I got sick of it after the seventh time.

has any one ever though about while in a line you go under ground and walk onto a moving sidewalk and watch a movie

TVs are really nice to have in a line, unless the sound is being pumped through the PA at about 160 decibles, like Hulk. Or if it's just really bad techno music playing, like WT.
