the fate of former coaster trains

I wonder if any parks/manufacturers sell old coaster cars. While I'm sure the expense would be considerable, I'd love to have a PTC car.

I've also wondered if manufacturers would provide engineering drawings so I could make my own car. I know Kings Island made a two-seat replica Beast car for Ruth Voss when she retired as general manager many years ago.

Rob, first off WW is only one train operation, so they obviously never had three trains. I am still very suprised though to hear this because if you were to ride the WW you can feel the cars bend and shake and tell that there obviosuly pretty old. But about the one at Knoebels. What logo was on the front of the train.

Also ST no longer has the logo on the front of the trains. ANd they have also been all reapolstered. But they still seem like the same all traine but you never know cause I'm still very suprised about a WW train at Knoebels. Did anybody else happen to see this and possible have a pic?

I'm not sure what logo was on the front of the train. All I know is that it was there at the park and is probably still there, although in a different location. Someone has a photo... I'm sure of it!

Ummmm anyone?

From rumors flying around Bgw, I heard from my cousin (he works there) that the trains for Drachen Fire are being stored for possible movement to Lochness, because of Lochness's aging trains. I think it would look awesome because the Drachen fire trains are amazing.
This brings to mind the original trains for Thunder Road. Theyhad fronts that looked like cars. One was a hot rod(bandit) the other was commonly called smokey. These came from a defunct park from what I understand. Maybe someone here knows what became of them and what park they came from. I had an old post card that showed these same trains with clear plastic fronts also. I'm not sure how long the ride operated with them.

2 of the 4 original Carolina Goldrusher trains were stored and used for spare parts.

John,

Thunder Road's trains came from Chicago's legendary Riverview Park. I hear that they are currently buried somewhere at PKD.

Waldameer replaced their "fixed" lap bar trains a few years ago with newer buzz bar cars. I say "fixed "because the appear to have been functional at

on time and then welded in to the up position after the mechanism wore out.As of last season the old trains are still sitting by the cliff where ravine flyer will go. Call the park up and make them an offer!

Can't hurt to try!

The reason I ask what logo was on the train, is because that is the only distinction that WW trains have ever had. I am not douting the fact that there was a train there, I'm sure there was one there. I'm not trying to find out if there was a train there, what I want to know is was it a WW train or not, most likley it was not from WW. If it didn't have one of the logos on it, then it almost certainly wasn't from MIA and if it was theres nom way to tell without the logos. Its just a red 6 seater PTC from somewhere else. Because the trains on WW as of this year are very very old. *** Edited 5/28/2004 2:48:02 AM UTC by Intamin***

Buried? Literally or in the back of a warehouse?

Supposedly, Knoebel's bought MiA's original Wolverine Wildcat train with the old logo (the one with the lion) strictly for parts. They used it for training during a PA maintenance seminar about two years ago offered by PAPA (Pennsylvania Amusement Park Assoc.) to help certify maintenance personnel from parks across the state. WW's train is similar to the 2 Phoenix trains with the long, two position lap bars. It was supposedly cheaper to buy used from MiA than to buy new parts from PTC. CF bought a brand new train with individual lap bars shortly after purchasing the park. *** Edited 5/28/2004 2:54:38 AM UTC by Brother Dave***

I was wondering that myself!

Here's one for you. The PTC train on the William's Grove Cyclone was orignially a train for the Pallisades Park Cyclone. The coaster at William's Grove was originally called the Zipper, but when the train was purchased they changed the name of the coaster to match the logo on the train. *** Edited 5/28/2004 2:18:31 PM UTC by Jim Fisher***
If anyone wants to buy a Geurstlaur (spelling?) train I'm sure Holiday World could work it out with you.

Or did they manage to sell it?

Thank god for the PTCs on Legend though, they're awesome!

Have Fun!

George

Nope. The G-train is still at Holiday World.
