Six Flags is putting a tremendous amount of money into newly aquired parks and also establushed parks such as SFMM, SFGav, SFGam. SF is trying to work off the debt they have from spending so much on new coasters and the aquisition of new parks. I wish that this could continue but it is highly unlikely that lots of SF are going to keep getting coasters every year. I was wondering when people think Six flags will slow down on the construction of coasters and concentrate on other areas of its parks such as theming and family rides? I do not want this to become another discussion about coaster deprived Six Flags.
I agree, it was bound to happen. What, we saw 18 or so coasters in 2001, right? I have a feeling we will have no more then 8 for 2002. I think it might be a good descision by them, but not good for us coaster enthusiasts. Oh well...
I think that six flags will have to find some sort of medium or balance between building lots of coasters and family, or themed rides. Other parks such as Cedar Fair seem to have gotten into a balance where a coaster is distributed to a park almost every three years along and the in between years, new flat rides or kiddie reides are added. there are some exception though like WoF, which hasn't gottn much in a while.
