The end for me.

As much as i love DDR, and the friends i've made because of it, i'm afraid that i need to hang up my shoes...maybe indefinitely.

The reason being that i need to focus more on school, and i've realized that DDR is pretty much a roadblock that i need to get over, so i'm going to stop playing. I'm sorry if it seems all too sudden, but i really didn't need any time to think about it, i just knew i needed to stop playing.

Now here's the good news: I'll still be posting here regularly, i'll still watch people play, and what not but i'm not getting back on the stage. Because then i'll get right back to my old habits.

So for the time being, i'm done. I dunno when i'll get back into it, IF i get back into it at all. But I am happy that i've been able to meet so many cool peeps because of it, and it's not like i'm saying "Goodbye, i'll never see/talk to any of you ever again." I'm just not playing DDR anymore.

That sounds pretty silly to me. Why stop doing it when you can just do it less?

We'll miss you and your DDR stories.

*cough*

Tommy P.

I can definitely understand it being a serious distraction. Even when I'm not playing, I find I think about it all the time - and I don't really play that much compared to some.

EDIT: April Fool's joke??

I can understand your sentiment Kel. I definitely end up thinking about getting myself caught up in cycles of stupidity over assorted things (coasters, skiing, DJing, DDR, ultimate frisbee) where I can't think of anything else for days on end. In fact, my season hasn't even started and I found my mind wandering during a test this morning to all my potential coaster trips for the summer.

Good luck with school and everything.

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Thanx for your support. :) Yeah Jeff, i've tried playing it less, but i'm not that disciplined and i find myself back up there on the stage everyday spending 5 bucks in a single hour. Only because i wanted to be the best out there. BUUUT there are other things more important than that, so i'm willing to give up that DDR dream for now and actually get my head on straight as far as my career goes.

I'm sure i'll still be able to share some of my past experiences, lol i'm not leaving.

Sorry Den ^^; No joke. But it's weird that this just coincidentally happened the day before April Fools :)

On a side note, Ultimate Frisbee is the greatest thing since sliced bread...and thanx for the well wishes. ^^

Kel - do what you want to do, but I'd have to agree with Jeff. You talk about DDR as if it's crack. That's cool that you're busy with school and all, but there's no need to dramatically deny yourself a fun time. Just go once a week - go towards the end of the night so they'll kick you out if you play for to long.

Granted, DDR is mildly addictive, but it's not like it's bad for you. It's good fun, and even good excercise. If you were an alcoholic or something, I'd be glad to encourage you to quit. But really, if you're busy just don't play so much, but you don't have to stop forever.

Anyways, it's not like i know you or anything, so if you feel you need to quit, that's cool. I just don't like seeing people denying themselves a good time. But what do I know...

S:ROS; SFNE. Ride it, and you'll understand.

I think the point isn't so much about time spent on the activity itself, but the state of mind. I get really "Weird" when coaster season is approaching and all I ever talk about is how long it is 'til opening day. Even when I haven't ridden in many months. Granted, most people aren't like this, but for the few that are, sometimes the only way to get your head off of whatever you obsess about is to stop completely.

Oh please...remember me and my horrible addiction to EverQuest?

Sometimes, the addiction is so strong, there's no such thing as "doing it less."

Oh god.

Stephanie, a friend of mine that rents out my basement has been addicted to Everquest for the last 3 years and it continues. He actually built 2 computers just for this cause.

Scary.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

No point in offering a recovering alcoholic a drink, right? So i think it can apply here too...An addiction is an addiction, it's just my addiction isn't on as grand a scale as an alcoholic.

And God forbid that your "addiction" promotes good health and facilitates social interaction. What an awful vice.

I still think your "giving up" is kind of stupid, and borderline attention whoring for bringing it up here. Then again, that's what the hard core DDR folks are all about. ;)

Yeah, at the cost of not only spending voluminous amounts of money, but distracting me from the things i should focus more on...

I'm a 19 year old college student, Jeff. School is more important than DDR. Yes most people can manage both, but i can guarantee you that they don't play DDR as much as I did. If i just "cut back" to, say, once a week, i know i'm going to start playing twice a week, then thrice, then i'm right back where i started. I know myself to be that way.

Get some self control... You sound like a addict withdrawling from crack. It is just DDR.
Working on it.
