The Deja Vu Effect

When riding up the back spike on Deja Vu (you're being dragged upwards at a 90 degree angle), I got really sick. My instinct was to crane my neck so that it was parallel to the ground. The whole sensstion made me really sick. Consequently, Deja Vu is one of the few coasters I'll never ride again. Anyone else experience something similar on it?

If you're being pulled up at a 90* angle in a sitting position all you'd need to do it look down at the ground and your neck would be parallel to the ground.  I don't doubt that you got sick but could there be some other cause?
I didn't find it uncomfrotable in the least.  Most fun I've had on a vekoma, easily.  The whole thing was giggle inducing.

IMO, the first drag up the spike is the best part of the ride!

I agree. my restraints were kinda loose too.

I can relate, my first reaction was to tense up my whole body and hold on for dear life.  It was scary, but I loved it.  Few roller coasters can do that to me.  I think it may have something to do with the fact that I am kindof afraid of heights, plus being in the front row, looking at the ground, it was intense.
In no way did I feel sick at all. I was soaking in that 90° the whole time, but I did have to brace myself, but it's not a bad thing. Maybe you got sick because it was your body's reaction to fear of heights and the way you were being dragged up slowly AND vertically caused you to feel like so.
Heh.  I didn't tense up at all....but i expected to.  For some reason it was just very natural to me to just relax and rest against the OTSR.  I can't say it enough....what a fun, fantastic ride!

It's interesting Chad, that you said that it hanging against the restraint going up the back spike that made you sick. This lasts maybe 15 seconds? Were you feeling woosy before then, or did it just hit you all of a sudden? I had a similar thing happen to me on Thrillshot, but I had just drank a whole gallon of Pepsi and most people will tell you, Pepsi and weightlessness do not mix well.  LOL

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

DWeaver - there's a remedy for that:  You take the lime and the coconut and mix it all up, you take the lime and the coconut and mix it all up!  I said "Doctor! Is there something I can take?"  I said "Doctor!  To cure this belly ache?"
