I've heard a lot of rumors about Robin:The Chiller at SFGAdv is currently getting the Premier lap bar treatment a la Flight of Fear and when the ride is back in operation, the Batman side will go down for it's much needed change as well. Anyone know anything?

i just wanna know if this is gonna be safe, if it is true. the inclined heartline roll is a really powerfull inversion, can it be done with no OTSR? and what about goin backward? im hoping, if its true, that there are no back injury complaints to replace the head injury complaints. also, since there is a lot of shaking goin on(those of us who have ridden it know),wouldnt you be knocked into the person next you at certain points? im picturing a lot of movement...sounds cool though!
Ride it: Check out pictures of the Flight of Fear trains...that might answer several questions of yours. (Backward inversions have been done on many coasters with no OTSRs)
Other past threads have also shown much agreement that any sit-down inversion can be done safely with a sufficient lap bar system. (Premier's system is more than adequate.)
I can only pray that both sides of Chiller get the retrofit, but especially Robin. While it is still just rumor, I'm VERY hopeful. (If this is true, I wonder how long till the rest of the Six Flags Premier rides get the treatment!)

formaly known as great american hamburgers!
yeah, but, not inversions like this. thats what i was just wondering about. but if they can pull it off, hey, thats cool!
If Flight of Fear can do a corkscrew, Chiller can do twists. I rode Flight of Fear on Thursday and it feels totally safe while giving me one of the most enjoyable coaster rides of any coaster I've been on, ever.

Six Flags America? No, no! My name means "Sarcasm-For-All"
maybe well see a new interest in the chiller!
i was talking to a worker for chiller when i went there today and this is how it went...
Me:is it true that the red train is getting lap bars instead of the OTSR's?
Worker:yea, thats what i heard. Right now the car is in Ohio.
Me:Is the Batman going next.
Worker:Yea

Out of curiosity, why would the train be in Ohio? I thought Premier Rides was in Millersville Maryland. Do they do fabrication in Ohio?
jeremy
i hope this is true! but if it did would the cars look the same? and would it be safe i mean in the barrell rolls you clearly use the harnest! and i would think that the Batman side of the chiller would need lap bars first. it seems to bang riders around more becuase the turns are so sharp. the only reason i can recall baning my head on the robin side is becuase i get distracted by being right side up for a sec then move my head foward and get a good clonk! well eather way if it dose happen i hope it all works out becuase then robin would be closed another month to get harnest but back on it.
Robin first, then Batman. Some of Robin's LIMs are also blown out, and they are being replaced soon.
I have heard (but not verified) that the Premier Rides cars (including Flight of Fear and Son of Beast) are fabricated, built, and rehabbed at a shop in Cincinnati. No, I don't know who.

God i hope this is all true! The ride already kicks a**! I cant imagine how cool it would be with lap bars. Im already giving my hopes up
If this is true then the rumors about the chiller being taken down are definetly false

One word NITRO.

The Chiller being taken down to begin with was a dumb rumor. The ride is too new and SFGAdv needs all the capacity it can get. I believe that many thought the Robin side was much worse which is why it went down first as well as lower ridership to begin with.

Ok, I havent ridden Batman Robin: The Chiller and can't say Robin won't be getting the LBR's but I have very serious doughts on Batman getting the LBR's. If Batman's speed over the tophat while traveling backwards is anywhere close to Mr.Freeze then it definitly won't get LBR's. On Freeze when traveling backwards over the tophat you fall against your OTSR's unless you are forcing yourself against your seat with your arms. Without the OTSR's falling foward like this could be dangrous and cause some serious injuries i.e toothloss, bloody gums, busted lips, tender toung, loose teeth, cracked teeth, or maybe even tooth cancer. Ok, maybe that last one doesn't exist but it will if this ride gets the LBR's. I just think this ride would be way to unsafe without the OTSR's.

"Remember Helper Monkey speaking your mind is forbidden in here. If you do so I will be forced to ban you again and then you will have to change your e-mail again" says the moderator.
Batman is the one with the tophat, right?
Maybe other coaster companies such as Vekoma will follow this trend.
i Have Been riding this coaster even before it closed untill 1998 in 1997 and i agree with EvilHelperMonkey if batman gets lap bars ther is ganan be alot of injuries becuase you just cant hold urself in plus not everyone is strong enough to. for instance i rode this flat ride called the Zipper the other day im sure alot of peopel have rode this ride and it has only a lap bar and when it was going back wards it was more hard to hold myself from flying foward and hitting my face on the cage bars and i almost did i came about 1 inch from doing so b4 i pulled back intime since i had no streeng to hold on anymore. so i think in the Chiller its the same deal not everyone knows what to brace for and has enough strenth to hang on i also think the same thing for the chiller the only way lap bars could work out would be to make it do a you turn after the barrel rolls and back into the station no backwards part.wich wont happpen so i dunno maybe i'll be eating my words?
I think it would be nice to some Arrow Loopers like GASM get that treatment. I love that coaster, but I think that it would make it even better.
