“If you give a enthusiast a footer.......He’ll want a coaster!!!"

CCI was an amazing company that designed amazing wooden coasters. The only 2 CCI's that I have been on so far have been the Villain and Ghostrider which are both outstanding coasters. In about 1 week I will be riding Hurricane in Myrtle Beach and hopefully next year I can get out to SRM.

I have heard both positive in Villian as well as negatives. I haven't ridden it yet, but that won't stop me next trip out to Ohio! I think you will really enjoy Hurricane:) Ask Homey G;)

Actually I've never been on one sadly.

Thank God that I have Lake Compounce in my state.

I'll be riding Excalibur in August.

I lost my hat on Poison Ivy. How pathetic.

You know, back in the day [1900s], even then most coasters came from a few builders.

There was Lamarcus Thompson early, and a few other builders. Miller left his position as Thompson's chief engineer and formed his own company, and would partner w/ Baker, who among other things, built the Cyclone.

Miller, famous enough on his own, trained a bunch of PTC and NAD's designers.

Then there was Prior, Church, and Traver, who worked much of both coasters, and really took over from Thompson in the west.

The glut of builders in the 90s -- Dinn/CCI, GCI, Intamin, RCCA, Cobb (very early), Intamin, Vekoma, etc. Was one of the largest concentrations of builders since the 20s. Heck, even PTC is still around, and Gerstlauer makes some coasters (steel, though, I think)

First Rampage goes SBNO and now THIS? Evrything that I liked about woodies involved CCI! My first and second woodies were CCI's(Rampage and CannonballRun) and are both awesome!

You know, normally I pay attention to this stuff, but why is Rampage SBNO? I don't recall if I ever really heard the skinny.

nasai - Visionland has been going through a ton of financial difficulties. I'm pretty sure that only the waterpark has been operating this year.

Look outside, I know that you'll recognize it's summertime. - The Flaming Lips "It's Summertime (throbbing orange pallbearers)"

The fall of CCI isn't much of a fall at all. I'm sure we'll end up seeing the CCI Designers and Engineers with other roller coaster companies. Denise Dinn said it herself that she'd like to get involved with another company somewhere down the line. We've still got the existing CCI woodies to cherish in the meantime, but down the line I'm sure we'll see similar designs from the same people, just under a different name.

Meanwhile, this is sort of a blessing. GCI now has the opportunity to step up and meet the demands of many parks for a world-class wooden coaster. Great Coasters International has proven more than capable with their existing coasters, and I'm sure we'll see huge things from them in the midst of CCI's closing. The key is to look at the big picture, and everything will be fine.

I will miss them. I loved Great White and Villain the most. They are so smooth.

I'm not sure CGI will jump at anything. They seem to only involve themselves in 1 or 2 projects per year, much like Morgan.

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

My only CCI. Ghostrider, I love Ghosty. I have to say the first time I rode it was in the front where most people are first dissapointed, but then in the back at night changed my life. Just amazing.

About 3 weeks ago I rode Ghosty and on the lift I loosened my seatbelt....A LOT! I have never flown like I had that day from the "scenic" section drop. I can't ger enough. Silver Train, Back, Night, Loose belt. I can die happy.

3 of my top 5 coasters (not just woodies) are CCI's, hmmmmmm, I think that means something. CCI was one of the greatest coaster companies ever, right up there with the PTC. They created airtime machines like Cornball Express, insane laterals like Legend, a combination of the two like Raven, gracefully smooth, not so insane coasters like Hoosier Hurricane, a couple kiddie coasters, and even an insane twisted dark ride like LoCoSuMo (well, two, the Underground at Adventureland). One incredible coaster company, I salute you (and bow down praising I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy :~D).

Hi, I'm here to talk about coasters, if you are not, shut up and leave.

Anyway to put tears under this :( ?

Chuck, utterly devistated!
