The booing of team GRP

Soggy's avatar
Think about it, the planning stages went on for at least 4 months!! THAT was how long they had to wait! Just because team GRP did their homework and legwork doesn't mean they deserve to get boo'd.

WAY TO GO CURLEY & TEAM GRP!!

I was proud of the claps and cheers of SFMM, who says SFMM has a bunch of bad attitude gangbangers?

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
about the record they should of went on more of the larger rides rather then the kiddy one's I mean seriosly why should they count a kid coaster. They were at Six Flags Magic Mountain too and still went on the kiddy rides there I mean come on, and about the booing at all the park's i have been they have all let all the people in line get a chance to ride so whats up with that. I say they should of been informed if they were not
I didn't expect that to happen til I seen that show. I would have thought most people(even general population)would think that was cool cause they get to be on TV. :) I didn't think it was right. You are right Coasterfreakbailes alot of people being the followers that they are would go along with someone like that. I noticed that in the US alot of people can't be happy for someone doing something good. They have to be negative about it. I think its jealously because its something that they haven't accomplished. Why are people jealous of that? *** This post was edited by Coaster Fantom on 6/2/2001. ***
Just to clarify some things:

The public were notified via many signs that the line could be held up due to some filming. this was the case at PGA and SFMW. I know for a fact because our rider John Green was collecting the signs as we exited each coaster. His initial intent was to gather at least 7 signs, but he simply had to stop as there were way more signs that he needed.

The signs said the public was welcome to wait in line and described the attempt and mentioned The Discovery Channel.

Also, as you can see on the show, the park manager was there with a bullhorn on the MEDUSA platform trying to explain to the crowd that they would get their rides. The crowd basically shouted him down. Same thing happened at PGA when the park management tried to make an announcement over the loudspeaker.

Regarding the issue with kiddie coasters:

I believe a coaster is a coaster is a coaster. We rode the smaller coasters because they were there and Guinness counts them. We rode every coaster at every park that was operating that day (FLASHBACK was closed at SFMM).

We went to the smaller parks to up our total (but we really didn't need Adventure City or Upland, or Scandia), and to bring some attention to these great little parks that no one every gets to see on these shows.

I continue to be grateful for your support. It's been quite a week...!!

You really did do a good job riding all of the coasters, but we are just a little mad because you have the connections (and are able to take advantage of some things that we can't). It makes us a little mad that you are able to come and break the record at Cedar Point just because you've got the ACE PR guy able to get the parks to agree to do this with you. I think you understand where some of us are coming from.

Curley, you guys did great riding all the coasters! I know that I would have cheered you on if I was there. Just wanted to congradulate (Spell check isn't working right now) you and the rest of team GRP.

This subject has been beaten to death. It is whining and complaining that give enthusiasts a bad name. I am not condoning the GP booing, I thought it was bad form. However, what if the GP got in the way of your ERT? I am sure there would be flames on all the boards about the rude and inconsiderate GP. Enthusiast's season pass revenues certainly couldn't pay for MF or Goliath, or even a simple corkscrew or boomerang.

As for more knowledgable riders, give us a break. The people who have the time to study track design elements, manufacturer specs, etc. have time on their hands. They are either students or unemployed. Once you grow up, get careers (not just a job at the local mall food court), you'll understand more clearly. It's nice to see real people for a change. Enjoy the fact that you can get so excited about roller coasters, while you can.

Curley said that there were signs all over the place, I was just wondering if anyone goes to a park and actualy reads any signs there. I know I dont. I just go and ride. Congrads on the record curley.

To tell you the truth I would have booed to because its really not fair to have to wait longer no matter if its 1 minute or 5. I think about going to PGA and they suck with capacity already so to have to wait even longer would make me angry too. I love coasters and all that but when I really think about it I would have joined in.

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.
I probably would of joined in too because #1 i've been waiting a long time to ride, and#2 it's only booing. It's not something to cry about.

The people on the show said stuff like I was hurt and stuff like this and the voice guy said there were emotional challenges. THERE ONLY RIDING COASTERS!

formaly known as great american hamburgers!
It's only booing but booing can really hurt. I play a lot of sports and have been booed at several times and it really doesn't feel good I will just say that. I give you my props curly going to the little parks probably help boost attendence which would bring in well needed revenues. Congratulations you did a good job.
