The Best of Times, the Worst of Times (Part I)

Associated parks:
None

During my very brief SFKK visit, Coaster count-padding mission and Thunder Run hunt, I found nothing truly wrong with the park. Not only were the staff polite, even the heftier visitors were polite enough to wear T-shirts or one-piece swimsuits in the waterpark to avoid subjecting anyone to the waterpark game shows so popular in the Midwest:

"You'll never guess where I've got hair"

"Guess where Da sun don't shine? (cuz it really don't wanna)"

and the number one favorite....

"What's my Manboob cup size?"

You'd know this already had I ever finished a TR. However, if you'd guessed I had been in the sun wayyyyyyy too long that day, you'd be right.

Brian, thanks for the great fun, as you and Frank really made the trip out there special. You both were truly wonderful guys, and great to hang with. I appreciate, most sincerely, Sunday night as well. You are indeed good people. I will try and post my "trip" report soon, but watch out, she's a doozy. :)

I have been arrested more than you
there's nothing on the other side of this dam* tape...don't forget about the fishies.
ooh, thanks for the reminder, DM.
I'm working on it as we, ummm, speak.

I read your report and did see that you enjoyed yourself. Good for you. But Gregleg, Jess, sparky697 and CoastaPlaya all have proved my point. They all had good experiences at SFKK, but all were expecting a bad day. It seems that SFKK (for whatever reason) has received a few bad grades by a few of its visitors and the rest of the enthusiast community has already decided that it must suck.

What was that coaster commandment again? "Thou shall not hate a coaster (or in this case a park) before riding it (going there)."

Huh? I said I expected suckage when? As for unsightly displays of--well, let's not revisit the details--I get that everywhere else already. It was only shocking not to see alla dat.

I was reading into your post a little much, I guess. My bad.

Soggy, I've been to SFKK before. If I gave the impression that I was expecting a not-great time, well, there'd be a reason for that... And yes, I had gripes about this visit, as well. My stop on Sunday, my heart wasn't into it at all. That's not the park's fault, though, given Saturday night, so I'm refraining from commenting much about it.

You were really brave riding TR with the bar up. That's the coaster that I had my seat belt fail on last year. Seems they need to work on restraint maintenance.
Stupid, Jim, not brave.
Especially in light of Saturday night and the fact it was my first ride on the thing, I feel like a total ass. It was crossing the fine line being thrill seeking and stupidity. I feel like every time an enthusiast overrides or ignores a safety device or giggles as their friend takes a seat belt off on the lift hill they are betraying the trust of all the people who work hard to make our experiences so enjoyable.

That means a lot more to me after having to live through hearing Pat's announcement Saturday night, and spending the next several days thinking about what we as a community have done to that amazing family.
