Wood: First coaster with up-stops. I can see the picture right now, but the name slips me. (I'm thinking Jack Rabbit or something for some reason...?)

Steel: Revolution at Magic Mountain and Corkscrew at Knott's, both for their first of a kind inversions.

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.
Batman the ride at SFGam...

Kumba..
Gravity Pleasure Switchback Railway - Where would we be without it? Probably not on this site.

Modern - Racer (PKI) - Started the second coaster boom, which slowly gained speed and is going at warp speed 25+ years later.

Matterhorn, Revolution, Corkscrew (Knott's), Magnum, Superman TE, Batman, Bat, Mil. Force for steel.

Scenic Railway, Coney Island Cyclone, Beast for wooden. I disagree with Son of Beast, simply because we are not seeing anyone planning more wooden coasters with inversions in the near future: I think (and my opinion only) that if only 1 coaster has it, it is more of a novelty than a benchmark. But a great idea (and I can't wait to ride!) nonetheless!

I have to define this tread a bit more.
Rides that are revolutinary or innovative that will conitinue to inspire new design. I believe that the fusing of Steel and woodden coasters will continue to be designed. Hybrid concepts of this type might one day become an amusement Park standard. The loop on Son Of Beast will manifest into a whole new coaster genre.
