Hey, I'm heading down to PKI tomorrow and I was just wondering if The Beast was currently running. I had seen it mentioned that it wasn't running on opening day, so I was just curious.

The Beast got clamp breaks just like on SOB, the Racer, and basically all the other major coasters at PKI. No magnetic braking system like people were hoping. But I have also been told that there is almost no trimming at all on Papa, and he's running like he was supposed to be! :)

coasteraaron,
the beast received both trim brakes and magnetic brakes. the magnetic brakes are on the course of the ride and the trims are in the station. there is still some trimming in the midcourse brake run.
I think you are getting your braking terms mixed up.
Yes, magnetic trim brakes are along the course.
There are "fin" or "pinch" brakes that utilize standard air callipers in the station (not trims).
Trims do exactly what they describe... they "Trim" the speed. A "fin" or "pinch" brake can be used as a trim, but on Beast it is only used for stopping and positioning the train in station.
