The appeal of Disney parks

My wife finally located another dinner so now we have

Biergarten, Kouzzina, something I cant remeber, and the Hoop Dee doo musical review(?) that one costs 2 credits so I can just hit counter service and pay out of pocket on the last day.

No Via Napoli? It's open for lunch and dinner every day of your visit.

By the way, what resort are you staying at?

You will love Hoop Dee Doo! Great food and a great show! The cornbread is addicting, and the ribs are surprisingly good. The fried chicken is ok, and the strawberry shortcake dessert is delicious.

My wife found some other Italian thing, I believe. We're not doing any sit down lunches.. going to hit the food court where we are staying (Port Orleans Riverside) for quick serve breakfast and our dinners are all kinda early, so quick serve breakfast, snack, dinner will probably work for us. I wanted to leave lunch open so if it's too hot and crowded we'll chill at the pool.

Port Orleans Riverside is great but pretty sprawling. If you haven't already, try to choose your room based on the map and where you would like to be. I personally find that the closer to the lobby you are the better off you are for the pool, the boat to Downtown Disney and the bus.

If I asked my wife, she would probably say planning our dinning options was a hassle. But it was a self made hassle because we wanted a nice site down meal just about every night (this was our first and probably last trip without kids). But it really is not any different then if you want to eat at some popular local place. If you don't want to wait, you have to make a reservation in advance. It just seems like a hassle because he have to make a bunch all at once, rather then the occasional Saturday night.

Friggin Le Bec Fin doesnt require a reservation a year in advance.

Just got back.

We thought this was pretty lame considering we used an additional credit.

The place in Ft Wilderness had basically the same food, but better desert (I forget what it's called, but they bring all the ketchup to your table when you ask for ketchup)

Via Napoli and Biergarten were good.

That would be Whispering Canyon in Wilderness Lodge that does the ketchup thing. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy Hoop Dee Doo.

I guess it escapes me.

I last visited Disney World when I was 10 in '96. I can't recall anything memorable from that visit. I remember being excited for the visit, and leaving very...meh. Disney gets a lot of love over here, and so I'm wondering- why?

Off the bat I'm expecting responses concerning dining, room, theming of otherwise mediocre rides, etc.

I agree with this post, and I just got back today very meh experience.

We already knew that would be the outcome because that's what you expected when you went in. You only get back what you put in to something, and if that's how you choose to be, that's on you.

Like the old saying goes, whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right either way.

Shocking!

How was the hotel?

Hi

Hotel was nice. We basically only slept there and grabbed breakfast. I used the hot tub a couple times and took my son fishing the one day.

They do have good mattresses and pillows. I usually cant get comfortable in a hotel bed.

The logistics of the whole thing are top notch aside from the meal planning which it looks like they are trying to fix with charging for missed reservations.

Most of it is Hollywood quality theming wrapped around a mediocre ride though...even my kids were a little disappointed at the Aerosmith ride, aside from the launch it was pretty tame.... we started doing goofy stuff like reading the park map when the picture was being taken on the tower of terror

If you go to Disney for XTREME!!@@!@111 thrills, you're doing it wrong.

We were in bldg 38 near the Fishin' Hole so the walk to the lobby wasnt too bad. Wait times were short, aside from Sunday when we went to Animal Kingdom opening early, and everyone else did too apparently.

Saturday,Magic Kingdom was open until 3am, after Midnight you could walk on just about anything.

We walked on GM test track about 10 times in a row in the single rider line, in the span of an hour. We got on Soarin' in about 20 minutes.

Monday before our flight out we headed back to Animal Kingdom, Everest was 15 minutes, The River ride was 15 minutes and Dinosaur was a walk on so we hit them all a couple times.

I forget when we went to Holywood Studios, but T O T was a walk on and Aerosmith was anywhere from 20-30 minutes, although the wait was less than that.

I was amazed at the sheer size of the que lines, anyone waiting from the begining of Everest, or Space Mountain should be comitted. The only thing we didnt get on was the Toy Story thing, both times we went there, they ran out of fast passes, and we didnt feel like waiting.

Sounds like you had a terrible time. :p

We had a good time, I just don't think it's worth the premium you pay to go there, I don't think I had 4 grand worth of fun, or whatever it was.
