The appeal of Disney parks

My wife is the one who wanted to go. She even said she could care less if she goes again. Her exact words "It's really not much of a vacation."

It's only "not a vacation" if you go into it with the mindset that it's "not a vacation".

I don't know about you, but I spend quite a bit of time lounging around my resort when I'm there.

Nice use of the Mousezoom Photo Jeff.

Re: Philharmagic. I think I got the name wrong. I was meaning the night show at the Studios. Is it Fantasmic? (I can't keep them all straight.)

I never go to WDW for "vacation". I go to have a good time with the kids but my idea of a vacation has nothing to do with standing on concrete in lines. Frankly, I don't go an any amusement park for vacation.

My idea of a vacation includes drinks with umbrellas and/or Italian wine.

I'm going to Vegas in two weeks and I don't really consider that a vacation. It is a trip...but it isn't a vacation in my mind.

^wahoo - yeah, you got it right this time. Philharmagic is at MK near Peter Pan - the use of Sorcerer's Apprentice is, as always, brilliant. Fantasmic! is the nighttime show at DHS.

You have kids? How much swimming and lounging around by the pool are you going to do when it is 50 degrees out?

I think we went to that, I can't keep them all straight either.

I go to have a good time with the kids

That's what I thought we were doing. What we found is the good times were few and far between for the money involved, hence Disney is overrated in our opinion.

That is my opinion, I merely offered it.

Here's another, in case you couldn't see the kids. You're the one who insisted you couldn't hang out with non-infant kids in Morocco. I'm just demonstrating that it isn't true. You could see this same scene any day of the year.

Contrary to popular belief, there are also indoor places to lounge, hang out, eat, and drink.

It's a still picture, if you took one a second later there would be entirely different kids in it.

My kids arent going to lounge around and hang out where there is nothing to do, you keep failing to grasp this

Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Talking in circles is no fun.

Or is it?

You're entitled to your opinion and all but are you blaming Disney for the weather now?

I could post the video I shot and you'd still believe everyone is just like you and your kids. You're hopeless, and I feel bad for your kids, who learned the definition of "nothing to do" from you. It's folks like you who remind me every day how not to be a parent.

Going back a page and a half, the Laugh Floor is in Tomorrowland and I guess that's where the Timekeeper once was.

The spoiler, if you want to call it that, is that it features real-time computer animation. Actually, "features" is not even a good word for it. Let's say, "employs". A live actor voices a computer animated character and manages to keep in sync, thus allowing live audience interaction. It's Crush's Turtle Talk (which I have not seen) all grown up.

But of course, they don't tell you this. They just *do* it, and while part of your brain is sitting there laughing at corny jokes, it takes a few minutes to realize what an amazing bit of technology you've just witnessed. :)

The other places where I had a reaction like that were in the pre-show for Disaster! over at Universal Studios Florida, and in the pre-show for the old Alien Encounter, when Skippy teleported across the room. In that case it was obvious what they did, but how they did it was just so darned clever...!

(See, I've already had my take on what billb did "wrong". He doesn't happen to agree, so why should I bother trying to change his mind? It was his money...at least I assume he's not one of those people we were talking about in that one news thread... :) )

My wife and I thought Crush's Turtle Talk was going to be super lame and it turned out it was awesome. It's rad to see the kids interact with him.

Also wanted to mention that some friends of mine took their kids to Disney this summer and the kids didn't really care. They could have spent all day at the pool and been just as happy. To each their own!

Again, just because you wouldn't stay for the Mo'Rockin show, that doesn't mean no one else does---people do, all the time. The show is fun, and the belly dancer (or, as my daughter referred to her, the "dancing princess") is easy on the eyes to boot.

(Hopefully, that doofus wasn't *our* 'gator...)

Granted, Mo'Rockin is not as much fun as Off Kilter, but who is? Plus, the Canada beer stand seems to be cheaper than the other Epcot beer stands...though they only have Moosehead as their "best" offering.

But, hey, you can point out why all this sucks too, because Obvious Troll is Obvious.

There is exactly 1 good rock song with bagpipes in it, and they didn't play it.

The "entertainment" on the USA pavilion was Richard Marx LOL holy 1985 Batman.

And I could point out all the ways Diznee World is lame and you'd believe everyone is a mouse ear wearing simpleton like you.
