Thanet council threatens compulsory purchase of Dreamland amusement park

Thanet council is threatening tough legal action to secure the rebirth of Margate's Dreamland amusement park. Officials warn that if the Margate Town Centre Regeneration Company (MTCRC) does not hand over the historic site before the end of July, it could face a compulsory purchase order.

That's some serious strong-arming. I'm surprised they can legally do that. Sounds like the UK version of eminent domain, which doesn't go over well here.

Even using strong arm tactics, the Brits sound so cultured. Compulsory purchase order vs. eminent domain. But at least for a change, the land is being taken to ensure that the park remains. Here, we've lost parks to provide low income housing, strip malls, parking lots, and a few more lanes of traffic.
