texas tornado. When will it run again?

I want to know if anyone knows when tt will be running again.
Thriller's down, my dream ride? Something happen?
Has it been down all season?
I heard that the new shoulder bars were knocking people senseless, so the thing only operated for a few hours on Opening Day before the park shut it down. That was the last I heard. You mean they still don't have that thing running?!

Shoulder bars? This is a Schwartzkopf mystery for me. All the pictures I've seen of Thriller show the cars looking like the WE Mindbenders' post its' accident. Are they OTSR or are they an insert to the seat that you slip up under? I can't find close up detailed pics of these rides that give it away to me, thanks..........
My point exactly... OTSR ARE THE DEVIL! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!! *Jumps out of window*

Mindbender...Can you hear the Riddler chuckling?
When Thriller arrived at AstroWorld, the trains were equipped with, if I remember correctly (remember I've never seen the ride in person) both the standard lap bars and with an oddball jack-in-the-box shoulder bar arrangement that apparently had such a propensity for ratcheting down during the ride and crushing riders' shoulders and spines that ever since the ride opened in Texas there have been people screaming that the ride ought to have a more conventional top-hinge shoulder bar assembly on it.

Unfortunately, just like those of us who have been complaining about Flight of Fear for the past five years who got what we asked for this season, those people got exactly what they asked for this season.

Be careful what you wish for 'cause you just might get it!

I was just in Houston, and the bartender at the local Pappadeux's was an ACE'r, model coaster builder, IAAPA convention goer and former Astroworld employee. He says that "the coaster formerly known as Thriller" has problems due mostly to the East Texas heat. It causes the track to expand, causing the trains to travel too slowly to make it through the course.

I don't know if that is the reason or not, but he was convinced it was weather related.

Either way, it was closed on my one and only day at SFAW, I was really looking foreward to Anton's masterpiece. Oh well.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
Its not because of the weather! Its because the brand new restraints hurt the riders and SFAW didnt want to take a chance and to keep it running! So the trains are now being modified to reduce the stress on its riders!
So those OTSR looking things on the WE MindBender and Thriller were not fixed to the seats? :whew!: Even though I still don't have a picture in my mind of how they work, I'm glad it wasn't what it looked like to me(I was afraid they didn't move, they're funny looking).

(Even if it's a longshot) Throw that thing on a truck and move it if it's weather related! I will ride that ride one day, I may not ever ride DF(and don't want to now after last week) but I shall ride that Thriller before my coasting days are over!
Maybe they will put new trains on it ?

Danke!)

Thriller got its shoulder bars while it was still operating in Germany, presumably after the accident on the West Edmonton Mindbender. I have been told that the old shoulder bars (the Jack-in-the-box things) worked fine in Germany, but required a lot of attention as slight wear or misalignments would cause them to crunch down during the ride.

But I agree with MeineDoggyLiebenIch. Warum nicht nur lapbars??
