Texas Thrill Tour 2011

On July 7 I flew to Austin, Texas for my annual Coaster Trip. Arriving there I picked up my Rental Car and drove to San Antonio. I spent the rest of that day and all of the next day at Sea World, which cost me nothing since I have their "Platnum" Pass. Steel Eel was running in top form, each hill had terriffic "Air Time" :) I spent most of the next day at their Waterslide Complex, since it was closed the last time I was here. This park is receiving an overhaul, in 2012 it will be renamed "Aquatica" and will have several new attractions. I then made my way to Houston. There, I toured the Johnson Space center before making my way to Kemah Boardwalk. My first ride was on Boardwalk Bullet. WOW! This ride has some MOVES! It's my new NUMBER ONE Wood Twister, unseating Dollywood's Thunderhead, which held the title since 2005. The next day I did some sightseeing before making my way to New Braunfels. I spent a day at Fiesta Texas, but only went on one Coaster, the Roadrunner Express. I concentrated my visit on Fiesta Texas's shows and their Waterpark. The next day I visited Schlitterbahn. WHAT A PARK! Everything I've heard about this park is true. NO OTHER PARK comes close to this one. The park was packed the two days I was here, but although I had to wait 30 minutes to an hour to get on their rides, those rides often lasted an hour, so it was well worth the wait. Congratulations Schlitterbahn, you are my new NUMBER ONE Waterpark. I feel sorry for any park that tries to take this one on! I also went tubing on the Comel River before returning home. Unfortunately I didb't get "Bumped" of any flight, so next years trip will have to be acquired "The Old-Fashioned Way", by buying it! :D

So, you flew into Austin and didn't take the quick drive up the road to hit the biggest and best park in the state? SFOT and missed out on the New Texas Giant!

Still sounds like you had a good time. I am interested to hear how a waterpark ride lasted an hour, since I have never been to Schlitterbahn.

I decided to save the new Texas Giant "for seed". I visited that park this past October and saw the Coaster being renovated, but my budget didn't allow me to go to it this time, it was either that or Kemah, so I chose Kemah.

Schlitterbahn has some Inner Tube Slides that take you8 over small waterfalls and into eddies, and when the park is packed, they take as long as their lines. Some of them are over 2/3 of a mile long!

We rode one of those tube chutes in the dark last month during the coaster con. It was really cool doing it at night. The best part was getting out and walking over and being handed an ice cold beer.

LOL, I was did actually think of you when we were there getting the beer. That was one of the best event days ever. I still can't believe all they did for us.

Breakfast, morning ERT @ Blastenhoff, Sky Coaster, lunch and ERT on Congo River, Afternoon snack, dinner & ERT on Dragons Revenge, Event T-shirt, wine tasting, evening ERT @ Blastenhoff, Late night ERT on Hillside Tube Chute with desserts and beer, margaritas & daiquiris in the hot-tub followed by campfire and smores. All of this including addmission and locker rentals for $10 per person.
